Missing college student in the Dominican Republic from Ashburn

Even though she grew up in the US, goes to college in the US and her family lives in the US, the US government wouldn't help her parents when they contacted them. So they had to go to the Indian government to put pressure on the DR and lots of time was lost.

It's taken 3 days for this to hit the media. She's a lovely, brilliant young woman - hope they find her.
Are they not US citizens then?
No, they are Indian citizens who moved here to send their kid to Thomas Jefferson.
I don’t mean to be heartless, but this is just reality. The US Government is
not going to formally get involved with a foreign government for a non-citizen. What has the family said?
I think the FBI is there.

for the sake of her family just stop presuming. You don't know what happened during the young woman's life, before she left for trip, during this break from school, the night into morning, right before group separated, then what happened next and so on. Nor the condition of this young woman. Don't make ignorant assumptions about her culture either.

Hey, why stop at 18? Maybe 16? 15?

Sure why not? Some European countries allow this. Kids are better off learning how to moderate.

There are studies that contradict your speculation. Many, many studies.

Binge drinking among adolescence is a major problem in Europe.

What did her parents here? not clear her visa status and how long here. Not that it is relevant to anything, but wondering more about this accomplished young lady (who went to TJ no less)

Question - if she drowned, wouldn’t her body have washed ashore?

They were probably all wasted; her friends probably weren’t capable of making the best decisions. Parents need to stop glorifying alcohol.

It depends on the tides/currents

Are you insane? It wasn’t a tsunami.

Surely there were others on the beach when the sun came up and after. Hope they come forward.

Like NH, probably SA and put in water to take care of evidence. With sharks and riptides he may skate.

An innocent person doesn’t tell 3-4 stories.

No, area has riptides and dawn is when sharks may feed.

Wonder if she knew how to swim? If not, makes his story less likely.

Coast guards have said (not in this case) that even the best of the best swimmers can face trouble in waters and as someone up thread mentioned, everyone should know not to go near bodies of water at night.

Word went out throughout the TJ community very quickly and right after she disappeared; every is in shock and disbelief and praying for her safe return, even if she graduated before my child started at TJ.

Yeah. My point was if she doesn’t know how to swim, undercuts at least 1 of the guy’s stories.

If she did know how to swim, then maybe she voluntarily went in water.

Ribe has given three versions of what happened next, first telling police he threw up from the rough surf and went back to shore — but asked Konanki if she was ok.

In the second version, he allegedly said he felt sick to his stomach and left the water, last seeing the missing woman in knee-deep water in the surf before passing out.

Finally, he also told authorities that he saw Konanki walking along the shore before he fell asleep, the outlet said.
