Could very well be the case. So sad. One bad decision cost a life. As a parent, it is hard to be ok with what happened. As a parent, I also can’t simply hover over my kids forever. Just have to trust that I taught them the necessary life lessons and the tools they need to navigate this world. DS (22) just came back from a spring break trip to Europe. He went to PR last Spring Break. He is living the best life right now. I am happy for him but I can’t say I don’t hold my breath when he didn’t check in for a few days. DD (19) is starting to venture out with friends. I worry for sure and hope she makes good decisions every step of the way. Prayers and thoughts to the girl’s family. |
Sure why not? Some European countries allow this. Kids are better off learning how to moderate. |

He was allowed to leave DR. |
He’s 24, not a “boy.” |

The man last seen with her has told multiple stories, huge red flag. |
When you don’t drink until you pass out a young buzz is the best buzz of all. Most young people don’t have enough experience to know when to stop unfortunately. |
So they were all wasted beyond comprehension and they left her with some older guy, she probably got raped by him and he got angry or panicked and attacked her and she drowned either intentionally or not. Never leave your friend alone. Wtf. |
Will be interesting to see the weather and surf report and any evidence of a big "rogue" wave. these things can be verified.

There are studies that contradict your speculation. Many, many studies. Binge drinking among adolescence is a major problem in Europe. |

How do you know that the girls, with whom she had traveled to that destination, were not going to be "passed out" (if they were drinking, haven't read any articles) or fall asleep (because in general that age group's body clock sleeps around that time anyways) if they had hung out nearby her on the beach that morning? What could they have done if they were asleep? |
They were probably all wasted; her friends probably weren’t capable of making the best decisions. Parents need to stop glorifying alcohol. |
The Idaho murders survivors didn't report it until 8 hours later either. Turns out they holed up in one of their rooms together and I guess also passed out drunk? Despite seeing a dude in a ski mask in their house and none of their friends responding to any text messages. This is just how this generation rolls apparently. |
