The pp is justifying why there is no need to vaccinate his/her kid. |
I know that part. But I'm baffled about why they need to know this particular child's preexisting conditions. The MMR vaccine could have prevented the death regardless of preexisting conditions. This is a known fact. |
This was their attitude about Covid, too so not surprising. Anyone with other health issues that made Covid more deadly than for the average person were deemed expendable. |
The difference is that President Harris’s HHS Secretary would have taken the opportunity at that cabinet meeting on national television to maintain that the MMR vaccine is safe and urge people to get vaccinated, not say oh this is totes normal and misstate the number of deaths. |
+1 It’s “that woman’s skirt was so short and she had more to drink than I had” thinking. |
The president and HHS secretary, as well as all elected officials have a duty of care to citizens. Imagine if 5th graders were vaping and pounding energy drinks on the school bus, and the principal waved her hands and said, “well, kids have been vaping and drinking Red Bull for ages, it’s not that big of a deal”. It’s not an abstract concept that the leaders of this country are sowing doubt and misinformation about vaccines and have even had a history of trying to remove fda approval for the polio vaccine. If they continue to downplay outbreaks and do not promote vaccinations with every tool in their arsenal, they are derelict in their duty of care, and I would call this is evil on a kim il sung scale. Just not giving a s&$t that their constituents are getting needlessly ill. This is their job. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin saved many lives due to their relentless campaign for the smallpox vaccine. How hard is for RFK jr to react to a girl dying from measles in the U.S. in 2025 and not say, “this is terrible, I will make sure we do better”? |
Covid saved social security a lot of money by killing all.those senior citizens in the red states. Since the ultra wealthy republicans will just fly overseas and get their kids vaccinations, all these disease will just kill the UMC to poor Americans. |
PP here. You're right that not vaccinating was trending before the confirmation. But RFK is part of the reason for that! He got this position as a reward for it. You'd have a much better point if he wasn't already knee deep in anti-vax movement. Besides, I was answering the comments that there is nothing new here and that it was surprising to have so much coverage on the measles death. I disagree on both counts. It is "new" to have such a vocal and well-known critic of childhood vaccinations in this position. And it is not surprising that the media would make a big deal about a measles death when they are extremely rare. |
Yes we care if a child dies in a car accident. And yes, we blame the parents if the accident likely wouldn’t have left the kid with a scratch— if they were in a car seat— which they weren’t. Kids die all sorts of ways. And every one is a tragedy. But the easily preventable ones (by vaccines, car seats, bike helmets, putting the bleach away when you have a toddler)— are pointless, as well tragic. |
Unlike car seats, helmets, and seatbelts you cannot take vaccines out of your system. Safety devices comparison to injections is dumb. You put on safety devices when you engage in activities that compromise your safety, then you take them off without any side effects or risks to your health. Some religious communities also have belief-based objections to altering their physical self, I know you have zero respect for this, but it's a form of "my body my choice". Anyway, you can mitigate your risk by vaccinating your kids. My kids got their MMR shots and I am not concerned about any of this, especially since this isn't even an isolated thing that never happened before. This happened on multiple occasions and we didn't go extinct. |
Yup, I have a close friend who is a pharmacist, and she is not very political but was horrified that RFK Jr didn't send a rep to the meeting to pick the flu strains for vaccines next year. We said we'd make a roadtrip to Canada next year if we have to, to get our flu shots. |
We will do the same. Part of his grand plan is to kill off the young and poor, the infirm and the elderly. He'll probably kill off most of his own voter base but he'll be a dictator by the time people wake up. |
Right, that child died of a congenital heart or lung failure failure and just happened to test positive for measles / sarcasm And all the other children who are hospitalized, are actually quarantined/ s |
As an MD, I can’t even start to unravel this word salad. Show me the death cert for anyone who died with measles where the primary cause of death was not listed as measles. Measles makes everyone sit the hell up. |
Omg. I'm not sure if you're trolling or what. Complications from measles caused the child to die. The child didn't die from the preexisting condition. The vaccine would have significantly lowered the risk whether they had a preexisting condition or not. The MMR vaccine is highly effective. |
