The only sympathy I have is mostly for kids too young to vax. Otherwise, all of the morons refusing to vax get what they deserve. From an evolutionary perspective, it may be positive, because it is nature's way of killing off dumb people.

Go read up on subacute sclerosing panencephalitis. Basically, you can get measles if you're unvaxxed and can be asymptomatic. It can hide in your brain for 20+ years, then all of the sudden it attacks your nervous system. There are no cures, and you just die.

This is the risk idiot parents sign their kids up for when they choose not to vax. America is so stupid. I'm so done with it. Let them all die.

God, this makes me so angry. I know people like this and they always claim as long as you are “natural” and get sunshine and eat healthy and breastfeed, you won’t get sick.

I studied biological anthropology and 50% of hunter gatherers children die before the age of 5. 67% of those deaths are from diseases. The norm for humans is for most children to die of disease. That’s why we have modern medicine.

I agree with you but do we know yet why this particular child wasn't vaccinated? The child could have been a new immigrant without access to free vaccines (or the mom was unaware of how to access them). Or the child could have been unable to get vaccines due to being immunocompromised. If either of those conditions apply, I can't place blame on the parents. But I can place blame on parents who don't vaccinate by choice thereby leaving other children vulnerable due to low herd immunity.

One of the children who contracted measles was a baby who was still too young to be vaccinated. So sad.
