My mother is retired so I guess that is why she is a "happy" grandma with a lot of time on her hands? I don't understand your premise, the parents raising teenagers now very likely had working mothers. I was a latch key kid.

Right. Gen Z are looking for an easy way to quick retirement and becoming women of leisure. They are not workhorses with a great work ethic. I expect many of these girls from Gen Z will fail in the 9-5 40 hour workplace. They have different priorities and don’t necessarily believe contributing to the “establishment”/government and society by working all the time is productive or noble. Gen Z do not like to even go outside to pick up groceries or food. They want everything delivered. This is the stay in place and stay home generation. The modern workplace has already done mass firings of Gen Z and they haven’t even been in the workplace or out of school for that long. Covid’s quarantines only made things worse.

Good points: there IS a huge swatch of entitled, spoiled, zero work ethic Gen Z out there. Riddled with ADHD excuses as well. Can’t start my work, can’t remember to pay my bills, can’t take the garbage out. Can’t can’t can’t

I’m a Gen-Xer. I think Gen-Zers are better about putting up boundaries. No, they won’t slave away for an employer that has no sense of loyalty to (good) employees. Good for them.

Don’t conflate “setting abuse boundaries” with being a laid off krappy Gen Z former “worker.”

Just look at the majority of posts on this site. Some seriously out of touch and angry people on the left. It would be concerning if they weren't such marshmallows.

Out of touch with what? The price of eggs being related to avian flu? Or the actual causes of inflation? Or the right bringing up trans stuff as a wedge issue repeatedly (every post I've seen about it on this site has generally been some MAGA type ranting that this impacts me more as a woman than abortion legislation).

Just because people who are educated don't fall for the right's propaganda, they are marshmallows?

Not the PP, but I’d say the election results pretty definitely show how out of touch DCUM liberals are.

Not really. In the end, Trump still won on a very tiny margin (one of the tiniest in the past 60 years), still the majority of POC didn't vote for him even though the percentages shifted right. The percentage shift mathematically seems more related to losing votes entirely (people not voting) than more people shifting votes to Trump. Many didn't vote for Harris over the Israeli/Palestine war, right or wrong on that one. That isn't an endorsement of Trump or MAGA policies.

This is some serious coping. The entire government structure shifted to one party.

so? I has happened before. Also, the numbers don't lie. More people vote for someone other than Trump.

Bill Clinton got 42% of the popular vote in 1992 but I suspect you think he had a very strong mandate.

Go Ross Perot, he should never never dropped out in the middle of it then rejoined. He should have just stayed in and won.

Another right wing talking point, saying it just to say it.

Very slim margins.

Exactly.

Fair enough. We’ll be waiting as of January.

It's so weird to see LWNJs refer to SAHMs as "trad wife roles." Especially considering how many SAHMs are extremely well educated and run the gamut of political views. And especially considering how many WOHMs are absolutely miserable in their lives, as evidenced by the Jobs/Career forum or a conversation with pretty much any WOHM.

Being a SAHM has nothing to do with education level (or lack thereof). Many of us are multiple degree-holders. But I know that's an inconvenient fact for you to swallow.

IMO, as a Democratic voter and former SAHM, the issue with the "trad wife" thing is how the right has fetishized and made a mockery of being SAHM. Why does the right have to ruin everything?

Please. You just can’t stand it that you lived the same traditional lifestyle as Republicans. Hypocrite.

Absolutely. The real takeaway here is that Harris was insufficiently pro-Palestine and therefore that is why Democrats lost is the correct analysis and interpretation of these election results. I hope that you can make sure this conclusion makes its way to DNC leadership.

Nice one. 🤣

Yes, the DNC was not sufficiently radical with respect to Palestine. They need to lean in.

I wish the right would stop pushing their christian agenda down my throat but there is a constitutional barrier that protects me from having to get baptized and declaring jesus christ as my lord and savior.

There is no similar protection from people trying to push their woke agenda down my throat, and declare the men are women, all disparity is the result of racism, and poor white people and immigrants must atone for the sins of their long dead ancestors that they never met or profited from.

Anonymous wrote:Why do I feel this election was a backlash against college educated women more than anything else? And why does that scare me?

To me it's gaslighting to hear men claim that colleges are indoctrination centers and that young women are radicalized and need to be deprogrammed.

It's like the social media pundits on the right have successfully learned how to DARVO, turn it all around, deny centuries of women having no rights, and women are believing it.

Not just women. America is on an anti-intellectual bend, like China before/during Culture Revolution.

No such thing as a trad wife in 2024. If they're advertising on social media, they're making money.

Trad wiv s couldn't get jobs except secretary, airline stewardess, waitress, school teacher, nurse. Trad wives couldn't open their own credit cards. Trad wives couldn't get birth control pills or abortions.

It's stupid to claim to be a trad wife while hustling for sponsors on social media.
