Why do I feel this election was a backlash against college educated women more than anything else? And why does that scare me?
To me it's gaslighting to hear men claim that colleges are indoctrination centers and that young women are radicalized and need to be deprogrammed. It's like the social media pundits on the right have successfully learned how to DARVO, turn it all around, deny centuries of women having no rights, and women are believing it. |
It’s not new that mediocre men resent high achieving women. And the line between financial success and failure in the U.S. is a college degree (fair or unfair that’s where it is). So as more women achieve a degree than men, and more men see themselves out-performed in the economic marketplace by women, yes they resent it and blather on the internet about “deprogramming” women.
The foolish thing is to assume this is recent. Backlash against women being educated started the second high caliber colleges started admitting women (look at the history of Girton in Oxford it’s both hilarious and sad). I’m not saying don’t be appalled— just don’t be surprised. |
There is no reason to save for college for females that’s over Thanks maga idiots |
Wow. If ever there was evidence of mediocre white man tears, here it is. |
I dunno. James Carville made his preachy female comment and Joe Klein took a torch to the Semocrwtic party in an essay a few days ago claiming the party has left him. While most of his ire was directed teachers unions and lawyers, he had a line in the essay validating Carville’s criticism.
The commentary isn’t only coming from the right. |
Right? See it, recognize it for what it is, and move on ladies. Giving them attention is silly and counterproductive. |
This election was about having men and corporations maintain power.
Racism was trumped by sexism showing that even men of color do not believe women can wield power, It also solidified power in the hands of a select few billlionairs. Maybe Taylor Swift and MacKensie Bezos will start spending their billions to take over truth social . |
Tell yourself that to keep yourself down. Smart moves. |
No, it was about the American people rejecting the Left's utterly stupid idea that it's okay for the government to tell social media companies to censor political opponents because "we only burn the bad books." You have to be unimaginably ignorant of history to support the censorship industrial complex or any of its dog whistles about "malinformation," "misinformation," and "disinformation," all of which can more accurately be characterized as "shit that leftists disagree with." |
The individuals I know, particularly the women, posting on FB about Donald Trump, are the ones I have personally had run-ins with. They were personally the individuals with the most narcissistic tendencies. Each one of them told a bold-faced lie that directly negatively hurt me personally. |
Yes, certainly based on a few personal anecdotes, all women who voted Trump are narcissists. If that is how you feel, then it’s true. |
It's a backlash against all women, not just college educated women. |
But, and here is the crux of the issue, by “standing up to censorship” were you in fact just magnifying the voice of billionaires who own media companies and foreign interference in elections via social media propaganda? Rather than achieving the goal of ending censorship of the individual voice, you voted to squash it under the heel of big entities (billionaires and foreign propaganda machines). |
I'm a college educated woman and I'm quite happy with the outcome of this election. And it's true. Colleges are liberal indoctrination centers. That's been painfully obvious for quite a while now. |
So what's your rationale for why the majority of white women (including myself) voted for Trump? And no, I didn't cower to my husband. He's far more to the left than I am. And I'm college educated to boot. |
