Why do atheists post on the Religion forum?

Seems like we've gotten to the point in the US where it's socially acceptable to respect people of other religions but not yet acceptable to respect people who are openly not religious. Seems to me that this won't change until more people who appear normal in other ways (dress, intelligence, work ethic, personality) acknowledge their lack of religion.

I don’t believe that atheists are discriminated against in skill based jobs, and if they are, that would be illegal.

It is not a matter of not respecting atheists in this forum but about taking umbrage at having the forum unnecessarily turned into a hostile wasteland with cartoonish oversimplifications about villainous religious beliefs and experiences ….

That last line reflects your myopic world view. For many people, including my grandfather, stamp collecting is a hobby. Just because you do not share their interest or enthusiasm does not negate its value to others.

Atheists don’t claim a god doesn’t exist.

They simply lack a belief in one.

There are exceptions and variations within the vernacular, but that is overwhelmingly factual.
