Are you a pro-choice woman in America? |
DP - sometimes the impact is in subtle ways, for instance on this forum, where OP (me) asked a question inoffensively and sincerely and received responses that were not in kind. Here are examples of religious imposition: mentioning God or Jesus and assuming that other people will agree and/or getting offended if they don't. Deferring to mentions of religions other than your own, but not to mentions of atheism. Not liking it when it's mentioned that God is supernatural, like fairies, Santa Claus, etc. |
Why do you post here? |
Evangelicalism is one of many forms of Christianity and there is no formal conversion process for it (as there is for Catholicism and Judaism). Evangelicalism is like atheism in that respect, except atheism is not a religion and thus does not require conversion when deciding to no longer believe in God. Being evangelical is a form of Christianity that, according to my understanding, requires adherents to state their religious beliefs openly and to attempt to convert others, including other non-evangelical Christians. I'd guess that some of stigma you feel comes from other Christians, who seem like atheists to you, but not at all to themselves. |
Where do you live? Being religious certainly isn't the default position where I live and work in MoCo. |
Doubling-down on the petulance after being called out on it. Nice. That's commitment. You know the answers to all those questions, and you know PP was referring to basic human rights under the yoke of you religious bronze-age myth believing idiots who think the constitution is less important than your daddy-sky faerie and any one of the many the slavery-endorsing, anti-science, pedophilia and incest supporting, murderous books written by men but ascribed to him. And every time you post another BS childish post you're going to get it in return, just like the paragraph above. |
to communicate with other nonbelievers (as stated in the OP) to communicate with believers -- specifically making them aware that the God they believe in is supernatural, like fairies and other things they no longer believe in. |
How do you know this? Seems like people would have to tell you that they aren't religious, or you'd have to ask them. I find, here in DC, that people only tell me that they are not religious, after learning from me that I'm not religious. |
^^ This is the answer atheists give when asked what human rights they are denied in the United States and worldwide. None of those things, if they happen, violate your human rights. |
What the atheist wants is the right to not be judged for their sins, especially homosexuality and adultery which carried a death sentence in Israel until Rome demolished their temple and thrashed their nation, dispersing its people. The atheist wants “No God” so as to do what is right in their own eyes, such as changing the grammar to apply pronouns for their sinful and perverse actions. In the end, the atheist is going to get his wish: no God. The books will be opened, deeds judged, and all those who were not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire to perish. You avoid this Lake by believing upon the name of the only begotten son of God: Jesus. There is no other name by which you can be saved, not Moses, Buddha, Allah, or any Hindu deity nor amy other name. |
How very Christian of you! Know what? There is not a single atheist who hopes you and your family suffer for eternity. That's one of the things that makes us better than you. “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” ― Mahatma Gandhi |
The above is in response to give "examples of how religious people and their beliefs directly impact atheists". Nothing about human right in the US and worldwide. Check back to see for yourself. I hope pp is not saying that it's OK to treat atheists poorly as mentioned above because "None of those things, if they happen, violate your human rights." |
Not all Christians believe this. The above is an extreme form of Christianity. |
Put that back in your pants. No one wants to see it. |
Religious consciences laws that allow pharmacists not to offer birth control or hormonal meds to trans folks, religion in our judicial system that is used to proffer bad science and stem the flow of plan b or to overturn Oberfgell, gay conversion therapy, I mean those are just for starters…you’ve got religious influence in so many areas of government shaping policy. Even marijuana laws are influenced by conservative religious law makers who view marijuana as pushing people away from God so they should be banned, even if there is harm reduction (less family separation) from legalizing weed. Surely you can see these kinds of things, right? a woman who is carrying a dead a fetus is Texas died recently because of laws designed by religious folks. I mean you do see this right? |
