I’m so happy to be unburdened by your beliefs. I’m sorry you worry about those things. In the end, they are just little stories. |
Meanwhile, Liberal Christians will disregard the hateful things that are in the Bible, but they do believe in heaven. |
The true Christians believe this, the ones who read the Bible which is God’s word. But a time is coming, which even now is occurring, when people (like you) will not endure sound doctrine —Jesus is the only way to heaven, and will heap to themselves pastors and teachers who will tickle their ears and tell them they are “good” because they think they are good for tolerating and approving sin. God will give these false believers a strong delusion. They will believe a lie that the coming Man of Sin is God, and they will takes his mark in the hand or forehead. “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that friendship of the world is enmity with God?” —James 4:4 |
Bored, discontented with life, inappropriately concerned with the lives of other people, angry about life and unable to enjoy anything but arguing, posting here is a distraction. |
And what are your reasons for posting here? |
Are you the atheist turned evangelical who posted here earlier? |
True. Being athiest now does not mean the person was never religious. Dh's cousin(s) grew up in a strict Catholic home. Religion and Catholic practices were at the forefront of most things. One of those cousins is now an athiest. |
No. I am a fundamentalist Christian which is somewhat different than evangelical Christian. These evangelical Christians (not all) think America should enforce biblical laws, joining church and state. I am not one of those. I am simply a sign post pointing the way to the strait gate, the narrow way which is Jesus. The broad way is the way that leads to destruction, with carnival barkers clapping and hooting there are nany paths to God, and if you think you are a good person then you are, no holiness required to enter heaven. “Follow peace with all men, and HOLINESS, without which no man shall see the Lord. “—Hebrews12:14 |

Hello liberal Christians: The person above is Christian too. Think about it. |
They likely post because it is a discussion group about religion, in which anyone can have an opinion. It's not a discussion group for religious people. |
I am an atheist but can acknowledge that Christianity is the foundation for western civilization.
The intersection of religion, history, and culture responsible for every modern society. Religion is an interesting topic, hence why I post here. |
I am the original response here. Just to clarify — yes, identifying as an evangelical is a “type” of Christianity but is not separate from Christianity itself. However, conversions are not limited to Catholics and Jews. Having a conversion experience in this context means that you become a follower of Jesus. Also, becoming an evangelical does not mean either of the things that you mention. Your comments imply that by doing those things I am saved and that I must do those things in order to be saved. Evangelicals believe precisely the opposite. We are sinners saved solely by grace and Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross. I am not saved by anything I have done but by what He has done for me. And I get His record through my faith in Him, not by my individual performance, achievement, converting people, or how loudly I say that I am an evangelical. To the extent that I do those things you mention — and to be fair, yes, I have done them — I do them out of the overflow of Christ in my heart. It is similar to why I do kind things for my wife — not because I am trying to “earn” her love but because I love her because I love her. Also, the Bible is very clear that whenever we do these things we must also do them with wisdom, with love, with kindness, with grace, with discernment. Nothing in the Gospel says “act like a jerk” and Jesus’s life and example was very much the opposite. Sadly, some evangelicals do a terrible job of living out their faith — just like the Pharisees. |
Not the PP but here are a few examp!es: One nation under god was added to the pledge. I was made to recite that every day in school. Swearing on the bible for jury duty In god we trust on currency Demanding to have bibles and the 10 commandments in schools |
From what I have read, it seems like many atheists posting here have unresolved childhood trauma and differences of opinion with family.
Instead of working it out in therapy or putting boundaries in place with family, they come here and blame strangers for their family problems and trauma. |
