Women who say they aren't voting on the single issue of abortion rights

Good. In some places, the only hospital is unfortunately a Catholic hospital. And now that the conservatives have gotten rid of any abortion clinics, it is what it is.

Just because you are Catholic, doesn't mean the rest of us are. Leave us alone, give us a choice, and you can do what you want.

You say we can do what we want, but we do not want to kill babies.

Well no one is making *you* specifically do it.

But if you are the only hospital for hundreds of miles, you need to make sure someone on your staff will prioritize the life of a pregnant woman over whatever qualms you have about hastening the end of the dying fetus inside her. That seems like a reasonable demand of any hospital especially if it is taking state and government funds and the people living near it have no other choice. Then you need to provide the service one way or another.

Reality check: Catholic hospitals will close rather than be forced to do something against Catholic teachings, regardless of whether the next closest hospital is 500 miles away.

Good.

There are one or two Trump voting women on here who are going to be gently whipsawed from the start of your post to the end.

I'm not a Trump voter, but I do agree with the criticism of women voting for the single issue, which they interpret based on narrow and uninformed perspectives of the issue. Meanwhile, they disregard the rights and health of thousands of children being mutilated, the co-opting of opportunities and the rights of women by transwomen, and surging crime in our country that threatens all of us. I think many on the left are completely oblivious to just how much the transgender issues are pushing people away from their side. Because few on the left will say out loud just how disturbing it is.

Oh the irony. “Uninformed perspectives”. Lolololol

This kid came in, and she was a 13-year-old kid. And she had been walking down the street, and this guy pulled up in the car. And he said, hey, you want to get in the car? I’ll buy you some food. And she went, OK. And she got in his car, and he took her to his apartment, where he locked her in, and he raped her in every available orifice.

And then the neighbors heard her screaming, and they called the police. And the police battered down the door and caught this guy in the act, arrested him, thankfully, and took her to the emergency room. And then, as part of her follow-up, she had a positive pregnancy test a couple of weeks later.

And when she came to my office, she’d had an ultrasound because this is part of this law, right? There’s a huge emphasis on ultrasound. There has to be, because this emphasis is on fetal heart rate, right? And you can only assess that through ultrasound, except through ultrasound, at small gestational ages like that, you typically need to do a transvaginal ultrasound.

So if you’ve never had that before, that is a probe that is stuck up your vagina and moved around until we can get the images that we need. So not amazing at the best of times, but definitely not amazing when you’re a child who’s just been abducted and raped. And the kid had an ultrasound, and there was no heart rate yet.

...And the mom was like, I don’t believe in abortion. I believe in adoption.

But then, a few weeks after that first appointment, the girl came back with her mom and wanted to get an abortion. And remember, the clock is ticking.

I had everything ready to go. I called the lawyers, and the lawyers went, mm, I don’t think so. ... we need to know whether or not there’s a heartbeat. I was like, but we don’t, right? Oh, and then she said, not only does she need an ultrasound, you need to wait 24 hours before you can give her medicine.

And it’s interesting because the advice you got was not necessarily following the letter of the law. But what the law does is create this culture of anxiety around what is supposed to be done at this very critical moment.

I think this is part of where the problem is. These laws are so ambiguous. This isn’t necessarily a criticism of the lawyers who are helping me. They were being hugely conservative in their advice to me. They were trying to help me.

But the issue is, what a lawyer interprets as conservative and what I then have to live on the ground when I’m telling this to a family, it’s they’re just different things.

So I had to go back into this room and tell this family. And I took the kid and her mom to the ultrasound suite. And it was, without a doubt, one of the worst experiences of my life because this kid just sobbed through the whole thing. And her mom sobbed through the whole thing, and my nurse sobbed through the whole thing. And of course, now, it’s been three weeks, and now there is a heartbeat.

And I have to say all this junk — I’m obligated to inform you that there is a heartbeat. And this kid just can’t even get words out. And she’s just shaking her head. I’m obligated to let you know that you may have pictures of this. Would you like your picture? ...none of that was necessary.

Dr. Tomlin asked them to come back the next day, following the lawyer’s advice. They did, and she gave the patient abortion medication.

And so, we did it. Great. Now I have to call the sheriff.

Women who want access to elective abortion use stories like this to influence people.

The vast majority of abortions are elective abortion, and aren’t because the girl/woman was raped or has medical issues.

If women would stop using elective abortion as birth control, and instead abortion was used by women who were the victims of rape or incest, the abortion rate would drop drastically.

The mere fact that some women use the stories of woman and girls who have been raped or have horrific health issues as a way to justify and protect their elective abortions is infuriating.

Does nobody think about the ramifications of their actions until it affects them individually? Southern states are trying to ban abortions in all instances - rape, incest, health of the mother. Why would you let your daughters, yourself, your nieces, your sisters, go through such pain? HOW IS THIS NOT IMPORTANT TO YOU!?! Why is your money more important than your health?

Op - yea of course. But the only form of birth control that is 100% effective is abstinence. And I am pretty sure the Bible said we should submit to our husbands. Ahhh republicans and Christians are so very hypocritical!

The Bible also provides ancient abortion instructions.

A platform advocating fathers to vote so their daughters can choose to have a fetus surgically killed or take medicine to poison that fetus because she failed to prevent that pregnancy is the most amoral, disgusting platform I have ever witnessed. I’m a woman veteran, and I am thankful everyday that I no longer am signed up to die for this country.

That PP is exactly correct. I’m a Harris voter but not a DCUM bubble resident, and I don’t think people on the left are aware how many people now believe that both parties hate women equally so abortion is just one issue in a spectrum of woman-hating positions taken by the major political parties. If you believe the Democrats hate you, as a woman, as much as the Republicans do, the world of issues you vote on will not include abortion as a key issue.

sometimes, contraceptives are not fool proof. someone should be forced to carry a fetus when a condom breaks?

And that’s an elective abortion, not an abortion because a 13 year old was brutally raped. But democrats want us to pretend it’s the same and pay for it with taxpayer dollars.

That video ignores the indisputable facts that almost all surgical killings of fetuses and medicinal poisonings are elective choices because the woman simply does not want a child.
