On the flip side, if you typically vote Democrat, but we're not going to vote Biden, will you vote for, Kamala?

If you are upset about the choices made in the Biden administration from the economy to the border, why would Kamala escape judgment for that? She was part of that as VP.

If you don’t like the direction the country has taken over the last four years, it makes sense to not vote for either, regardless of political party.

This election will be about the record of the administration not personalities. Only outsiders like Whitmer or Newsom would escape this issue.

So much this. Kamala would be another puppet. Biden 2.0, just younger and healthier. Honestly makes no difference to me. People who are still pro Biden up until now make it clear they are ok with WH team/“experts”/shadow govt running things, and I don’t believe that is what a presidency should be. An outsider who is actually willing and able to lead would change things.

Agreed, but is there time to bring in a new person? There are already questions about changing the names on ballots (which is ridiculous in this age of technology). It’s just a mess.

Are you going to push Kamala out of line for a white woman or a gay white man?

It is a dilemma.

Black women are the backbone of the Democratic party. I think it would be a big mistake.

It's only a dilemma when there's a good solution available. And there isn't one here. Kamala Harris is not Michelle Obama. She is not a woman of color that the vast majority of the country respects and likes. Biden said he'd only select a woman of color as VP in 2020. She has always been the DEI candidate, and has done absolutely nothing over the past four years to distinguish herself from that albatross.

If the elite of the Democratic Party are going to replace the President, winnability should be the only metric. The DEI candidate that is "owed" the position is not going to fly in 2024. She will lose even worse than Biden. And yet, if the Democratic elite pass over the woman of color for some white candidate, there will be civil war within the Democratic Party and they are still going to lose.

So it's not a dilemma. There is no solution this year. Biden and his allies destroyed the Democratic Party. A new generation will have to pick up the pieces in 2028.

….or, hear me out, Dems quit their bedwetting party and rally behind their sitting President. You can already see the circular firing squad preparing for the open floor convention.

Biden has done nothing to rally his party behind him, and that’s his whole job. His debate performance was truly terrifying and before that he spent the spring/summer losing the youth and Muslim vote in Michigan.

I will vote for whoever is the Democratic nominee, because I have a daughter, but “democrats should rally” is a disrespectful point which undermines the deep dissatisfaction many felt even before the debates.

A fitting end to a lazy, ego-driven, parasitic, plagiaristic, do-nothing career.

+1

There is no dilemma here. Black women have supported Democrats more reliably than any other group and sidelining them would be the most appalling slap in the face. Harris received her parties nomination and her states election more than once. If we need a “token” there are plenty of white men to choose from.

Pray tell what do you think the average Muslim in Dearborn thinks about trans and abortion issues?

So you didn't watch the debate.

NP here: I watched his NATO press conference. His union rally in Detroit. His combative interview with Lester Holt. That’s the Joe Biden I love. He was great in all of those, lucid, and had a mastery of the policy questions at stake. He held the mirror up to the media and asked them to take a hard look.

No, he merely deflected criticism. Lester Holt showed a lot of deference in not responding to his question re “where were you?” when Trump spewed lies during the debate. Had had been interviewed more harshly (think of some BBC interviews for instance), he would have been asked why he didn’t address the lies during the debate.

Do black women really support Kamala? What is the polling on this?

Maybe “black women” have complex thoughts and don’t universally believe that skin color should be the determining factor for making decisions?

So many white people just think minorities can be pandered to through superficial gestures.

It’s low key racism.

But my favorite ladies only ticket is actually Kamala and Liz Cheney. If 2024 is going to be about putting country over party and country over self-interest…she’s the person to make that point.

An unlikeable California prosecutor and the war criminal defending daughter of Darth Vader. Scary ticket there! Do you all want to lose?

If Harris is indeed the nominee she needs to pick politicians that appeal to the center and who people actually like, like Mark Kelly, Tester, etc.

NP. I am sick of candidates being selected based on their race or gender. We are supposed to be a meritocracy.

Tell that to the GOP who keep selecting unqualified White guys.

The Hill

California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer have communicated to senior party leaders that they would not be interested in serving as Harris’s running mate, according to a person familiar with the candidates in the mix to join Harris atop the ticket.

Newsom can’t be Harris’s running mate anyway because they’re both from California.

Boy, they sure hated Kamala last time. Black women hate representation, everyone does. There was literally zero excitement around Harris.

I was shocked and disappointed when he said he was running again. I get why, bc of Trump. But we can’t just build a party with the opposing party/Trump in mind.

We should have a deep bench of leaders in the party.

It’s because the Democrats did so well in the midterms.
