What's with the trend of not washing hair everyday?

I tried during covid to go to every other day and even after a month of that within 24 hours it was horrifyingly gross. I'd braid it on day 2 and my hands would be greasy after braiding it.

It unique to you and your individual body and hair type I'm sure, but for me anything less than frequent than once per day is completely inappropriate.

Do you do a lot of deep frying? Are you an auto mechanic?

Eh, there are some people who truly do have fine hair that needs to be washed daily. At least this PP acknowledges it's unique to each individual and doesn't insist we all need to scrub ourselves down twice a day or people will be able to smell our soap.

And clearly that's fine for you. I wouldn't tell you to go any less since that is what you need and it works for you. I can't stand when ignorant posters try to tell ME what is best for me and my hair. I don't mean you by ignorant poster but perhaps the one who made it a "cultural" thing, which is just ridiculous.

I believe you, I am the PP whose DH has an oily head. His is straight and dark blonde too, very oily. My curly dry hair would poof into a frizz cloud if I used his ultra-clarifying shampoo.

Oily scalp is often caused by diet. Just sayin.

I only need to wash my hair 1-2x a week.

Ridiculous, DH and I eat the same things and have wildly different hair.

Agree. To be charitable, maybe they meant “ethnic” in some way and just don’t understand words well.

I can't from far away, but I can from a few feet away. Maybe some people have more sensitive noses than others. I can also smell the outside on people -- geosmin -- but no one else in my family can.

I can't line dry any clothes outside. It smells afterwards. It's this area. Never had a problem out west.

I can also smell “the outside” on people, and on myself! It’s so gross. But my spouse thinks I am crazy when I say that. I feel so validated reading your post

Everyone can’t smell this? That outside smell. Ahh I didn’t know that. I have a nose like a truffle pig and it does gross me out a lot. I can smell when someone is on their period and wearing a pad.

That being said, most people do not smell if they wash their hair every other or every 3rd day.

Yes me too. I can absolutely smell when people have their period. Are there people who cannot smell this. They are lucky. For the record, I can also smell outside and smelly hair.

I need you to be so effing for real right now and stop playing. Lmfao. You're claiming you can smell when people are on their period and think this is normal? You think people who don't claim to be able to smell this are the freaks? Really?

What are you, an elderly shaman? You can smell when people have their period? So creepy and weird.

Uhh, some people (including myself) absolutely can smell it when someone is wearing a maxi pad. I can also smell the odor of hair oil. My kids are going through puberty and the hair smell is especially potent. I have a very strong sense of smell. Can't wear anything with perfume and get migraines from strong odors. I notice odors all the time at work and people think I'm crazy because they can't smell what I smell.

You cannot smell when someone is wearing a maxi pad unless the "someone" is a corpse that's been rotting outside for three days. Again, be for real.

Maybe if your diet was better your body would produce more natural oils so you could wash your once in awhile.

I'm not that PP but dried blood definitely has an odor. Dogs can certainly smell it ever notice how they go straight for the crotch? It's not too unbelievable that someone with a very keen sense of smell might pick up on it.
