Golden Bachelorette

Joan seems most interested in Keith, Mark, Jonathan, Pascal, and Chock right now. Will be fun to see how the relationships develop!

She isn't remotely interested in Pascal. The producers are interested in Pascal.

No question he wants younger, or perhaps would settle for someone his age -- definitely not older.

Although they seem totally incompatible (no way he doesn’t date younger and more cosmopolitan), her eyes did light up at the prospect of hopping on a plane to Paris. She’s stifled by her suburban life and seemed most excited by the men who proposed adventures: Chock, Pascal, and Keith (his spontaneity anyway).

I don’t think 4 years remotely matters in late middle age. Nobody unaware would be cognizant of an age difference imo. But physically they are very different types from the deceased spouses. More likely they just turn out not to be each other’s type in the end.

I think Guy from Vegas is the best match. Wealthy enough, grown kids, and both have that groomed, surgeried look to them, nice enough but very "normal" personality.

I'd love to think a presumably wealthy ER doctor would want a woman his own age, but is that really likely? He's planning to climb Kilimanjaro, and on social media is always off biking, skiing, skydiving etc. He is surely looking for a partner to do those kinds of activities with. Would love to be wrong, but seems like he'd be dating very fit, adventurous women in their 40s and 50s. Type As more like himself. Joan seems more like the stroll-on-the-beach and Pilates type. It's hard to see them having anything in common.

And another divorced one. I always want to know the deal with relationship history in those cases.

Interesting. I was curious about this and looked them up. Mark's wife was a very pretty, very natural woman with dark hair.

Joan's husband was tall, bald, clean-shaven and very extroverted.

So yes, if they tend to go for particular types, like Gerry did (only brunettes), they are definitely different.

Agree. They keep on certain problems who are willing to try for camera attention, fan favorites and villains.

I’m pleasantly surprised at how much I’m enjoying Joan. She has a high EQ and is a great listener. Earnest and low drama, but not totally boring like I feared. She also relaxed some on the face work, looks good. I really want to trim the Barbie hair into something more chic, but she looks great and wears clothes so well.

Not sure I can see her with any of these guys, except maybe Keith. Her husband sounded like a very special man. How hard to lose the love of your life in your 50s, with so much life ahead of you.

I’m curious to see more of Jordan. He gets so nervous but his daughter said he’s the funniest guy she’s ever known. Seems very genuine.

Obviously she was directed to keep Jack and Charles L, early fan favorites, even though there is zero chance she'd be romantic with either.

Is owning a hair salon really that lucrative? His salon results look pretty basic, and it was advertising for new clients not that long ago.

I’m curious too - he used to have more than one salon but it appears that he now only has one. Decades ago, I went to his salon in the city - I believe it was in River North. I never met him and went there for a specific stylist and followed her when she left. He may have other investments or family money. Who knows?

My observations:

Man, guys look alike when older. There are at least 8 silver haired guys who looks the same/I cannot tell apart yet.

Joan is a babe now (with a slight joker face- maybe facelift/fillers or whatever). She was not a looker and actually looked like a different human in her flashback photos.

It was so pleasant how many dudes were so sweet/positive/inclusive with the other dudes. That warmed my heart that there was no drama or douchebags (yet?)

The french guy has been in the US for 20+ years so my DH was like 'this accent is bs- he is like a male Sofia Vergara'. But he admitted it when he joked about going to Paris twice yearly to keep up the accent. We feel like he must be rolling in strange though- being straight, french and owning a salon.

Jonathan is super cute but I also think it's weird to be 'blindsided' by a divorce- whether you are male or female.

I loved the dude in the pink jacket touring the mansion and cooking food. Total rube/fish out of water but enjoyable. Jack I think it is. Not for her though. Likely also a major drinker.

I love the guy who is the bachelorette's dad. Mark? He is really cute and so is Cap'n Kim (and I am in no way into old dudes).

That poor lucky bastard Bob who was teaching his kid to surf and got hit by lightening that stopped his heart. I'd keep him long enough to see if he had super powers and to hear more details.

I liked Gary from Palm Springs. Smart, cool and positive. Reminds me of an old Questlove.

I want to marry Charles L who offered to help the other guy cook. That would totally be my FIL if he was stuck in a house of dudes. 'I'm nervous to talk to new people/let me feed people instead'.

I also wonder if she told them only to screen those who will move to her area. I get that some retirees can cut ties to move, but some are actually involved in their kids lives or grandchildren's lives or care and are not able/willing to move to some random place without family nearby.
