The two more normal Republicans had more votes put together than Moreno did. Plus, this. |
Occam’s razor says Republicans voted for the worst candidate because that’s who they are, as they’ve shown us a number of times. |
Did someone mention David McCormick? “David McCormick, the leading Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, helped open up China to U.S. investment as an official in the George W. Bush administration. Then, as a hedge fund manager, McCormick profited from the lower investment barriers he lobbied for. What’s more, he is now railing against politicians who were too eager to open up trade to China, including through certain kinds of U.S. investments.” https://www.huffpost.com/entry/david-mccormick-pennsylvania-republican-china-trade-policies_n_65f9cd44e4b03f22de60f0f8?d_id=7437117&ncid_tag=tweetlnkushpmg00000016&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter&utm_campaign=us_politics |
Sherrod Brown is going to win again, which is kinda amazing given the Trump'y inclination of the OH electorate. But he is deeply populist in an anti-Wall Street way that resonates really well in post-Industrial places like OH, WV, and western PA. |
Silver lining for Democrats |
|
Brown still has a fight on his hands. Turnip is going to win Ohio handily (he won by 8 pts in 2020 and all indicators show at least matching that in 2024) meaning Brown would need to win a lot of split tickets.
Vance won Ohio in 2022. Don't see Moreno being more "Maga" than Vance. Had it been an off year midterm, I'd place Brown a favorite, but this isn't an off year. |
Gd I hope so |
If 10% of the GOP stay home or vote for Biden as is suggested by the polling, I wouldn't be so quick to assume Trump wins Ohio. |
| Trump will do nothing for Ohio. Trump only does things to help trump. |
What makes you think some Ds won't stay home? Your data isn't borne out by serious polling. |
did you see the results from yesterday's exit polling in ohio? the energy around the democrats is very strong after dobbs |
Let them find out in November. They don’t get it. |

Larry Hogan holds wide lead over Democrats in MD senate race.

That’s just name recognition at this point. |
