Look at the words I wrote. I didn’t say one was better. But there is a huge difference between being raped and being groped and it does matter that you use the correct words instead of saying “the facts are he raped again” when he factually did not. |
DP here - Your disgusting! You would absolutely be the person who would tell the girl to her face to just get over it and it’s no big deal. |
I didn’t like what happened to this kid. He met a girl for sex in the school bathroom multiple times. The last time she tells someone he was too rough and he gets charged with rape. Then, he goes to a different school and gropes a girl and gets national attention. I wasn’t having sex with girls on school grounds, but some of the things I did would get a kid kicked out of school for sure. Maybe even been criminally prosecuted. |
I don't understand why people say LCPS dropped the ball. The rules of play for the ball were changed. It used to be that a problematic student would be sent to the alternative school in Loudoun. The student was removed from being around their peers and put in an environment that was more strict and had closer supervision. It worked great for years. But then the rules changed. Suddenly emphasis was put on equality in education. Removing a problem student for their peers wasn't fair and equal for them. Instead, school systems were made to shift these problem kids around. That's exactly what LCPS did: they followed the current rule for dealing with these types of kids. It is still done today. My neighbor teaches 4th grade and she had a student this year who had almost daily violent outbursts. Enough parents complained so the kid was moved to another 4th grade room. It kept happening and he was moved again. He was in each of the three 4th grade classrooms 1/3 of the year because no single teacher or 4th grade class could stand to be around him for the entire year due to his behavior. Teachers get verbally and physically assaulted by these kids and are pretty much prevented from pressing charges due to the fear of "your actions will be noted in your employment record" which can cause issues for them down the road in terms of employment elsewhere. Here's my unpopular opinion: no one is entitled to a free public school education if they can't follow the rules. No one is entitled to be mainstreamed if they can't handle it. |
No, I wouldn’t. This emotional response from you is insane: one girl was raped, one was groped. You can’t say he raped the second girl, and call that factual: he didn’t. I’m not bringing any approval or emotions into this. Just the actual words and actions. |
Unwanted sexual touching - forcing her into a room against her will is still horrible and deeply scarring for a child, especially one who is sexually assaulted inside of a SCHOOL. No matter how you try to minimize it, it’s still SEXUAL ASSAULT. |
Nobody is saying otherwise. But a poster said “he went on to rape again, these are the facts.” And that’s not true. If they had said “he assaulted again” that would be true. Groping isn’t rape. He did not go on to rape again. This case is convoluted enough- people really need to be factual and accurate in how they discuss it. |
NP. I agree with you. Groping is disgusting and unacceptable; but it's not the same as being pinned down and forced penetration. The tendency today to equate everything (not just various levels of sexual assault) is a big problem and diminishes the experiences and impacts of the most truly traumatizing experiences people have. This kid absolutely went on to sexually assault yet again. But if it were my daughter, I'd be grateful it was "only groping" and not even worse. Why should people expect any real consequences for this kid? This country elected a mysoginistic rapist/gropist to be president, for cryin' out loud. What lesson does teach? |
This and it’s time we all start pushing harder for it. |
Why not online schools for these kids along with intensive daily in-person counseling.
Why haven’t we learned the lesson yet that shuffling these kids around doesn’t solve most of the problems? I can see this as effective only if there is some sort of personal conflict that can’t be resolved at the home school. Just moving these kids along is a disservice to them - a missed opportunity to correct the behavior - and puts other kids and teachers at risk (and they won’t even know about the risk thanks to FERPA). |
Except he went on to actually assault someone he didn’t know who did NOT consent. He’s clearly a deviant and remains in jail. |
YES! X1000. Virtual school for them. |
He probably would have if he'd had more time/she didn't get away. Let's not act like he CHOSE to commit a less serious crime than the first time. |
Yea didn't he pull the girl into a room? I seriously doubt he was going to stop at groping |
Yes, he dragged a girl he didn’t know out of the hallway into an empty classroom against her will. I’m sure all he wanted to do was feel her boob. /s. |
