I don't think schools and colleges should be doing these investigations, and instead the police should be handling it.

The police (LCSO) were involved from the beginning. An SRO from the school was involved. The LCSO dropped the ball and the right wing have tried to use the whole event to destroy the school board and the Super who do not lean right.

And the sheriff is about as evil a rabid right-winger as they get. He is really a villain in all of this.

As a Loudoun resident, it blows my mind that the LCSO isn’t being held more responsible for their part in this mess. Between this and the incident a month or so ago where they mistakenly released a violent offender, I wonder about the competency there.
Guess I am naive…I didn’t realize they were THAT bad.
I guess holding the LCSO accountable (in addition to the well-placed blame that resides with LCPS) doesn’t fit the narrative some are trying to sell, though.

He had to walk a tightrope with that. If he had said there was a sexual assault that probably would have been actionable as it would have assume the student was guilty. The have to be careful about foia as well. Students have rights including the student who supposedly assaulted the other.

“Supposedly?” He was convicted in a court of law and is locked up.

DP. Not at the time when Ziegler made the statement, which is the relevant time for purposes of this analysis.

He didn’t have to name any students. He could have said that one student reported an assault and there would be an investigation. He didn’t. He straight up lied.

This is where you are ignorant. It would not require naming the student for the student's privacy and rights to be violated. It's a tightrope.

He and the old prosecutor definitely would pick and choose who to prosecute based on politics. We need police in Loudoun not a sherrifs office. Most people don't realize they aren't accountable to anyone. There is no oversight.

This report nicely lays out the civil suit for the two girls' families. I hope they sue the pants off LCPS.

Then he could have said "I'm not at liberty to discuss this." Instead he LIED. Under no circumstance is he required to lie.

Bad turn of phrase, pp.

I'm glad the report called out the absurdity of the fact that Ziegler and Chapman do not speak to one another.

We have enough speed traps already. I don't want Board of Supervisors dictating policy to police. We'd end up with rioters showing up on the Metro.

A teacher walked into the bathroom during the assault, saw the two feet under the door, and walked out, doing nothing. Aces.

This. I'm more mad with LCSO.

Ziegler, the Assistant Superintendent (forget the name) and the Broad Run principal all need to go too. Cannot believe they are all still employed. Gross negligence.

Girl 2's family could and should sue the pants of LCPS. They will win.

Ziegler has been fired.

Chapman needs to be recalled.

Is that legally possible? If so, what's the process?
