Human beings are not "illegal."
Human beings do commit illegal acts, including crossing the border to our country without documentation, which is, of course, illegal.

The illegal migrants seen assaulting officers in this video have been released without bail. It’s more than likely all charges will be dismissed.

In a sane world if an illegal migrant committed assault on a police officer their deportation would be immediate.

Particularly ones who are living entirely at the expense of taxpayers.

But it’s clear we no longer function as a civilized city. There are essentially zero consequences for all manner of crime, and the criminals know it — even the ones who just got here.

This is what Democrat governance gives you. Had enough yet?

Hate to break it to you, sunshine, but this is happening in Republican-run parts of the country too. We need comprehensive reforms.

Yes, Democrats are being stupid but Republicans have been equally stupid, for obstructing any attempt to solve it, like adding judges to speed up deportations, like funding facilities to put them rather than being forced to release them and so on. All Republicans want to do is point fingers, they have zero genuine interest in solving the problem. Their entire strategy is to allow the problems to persist and worsen, and then try and use it as ammunition against the left. It's the absolute worst kind of cynical bullshit.

Trump tried the wall and that resulted in hysterical wailing and crying of the dems after he was elected. GOP can't do nothing without libs intervening.

Trump's wall was a complete failure even without the Dems doing a single thing. It was naive. It was overpriced and a logistical nightmare, which is why he only managed to get a tiny portion built. And of that portion built, they easily cut through it with cheap battery powered angle grinders. They lobbed drugs over top of it. Parts of the wall fell down on its own. They circumnavigated it with no problem.

Again, the issues are around a.) slowing the flow of migrants in the first place, by giving them more reason to stay home - but NOOOO we can't do that because we can't spend a penny of aid on "shithole" countries, with FAKE MADE-UP excuses why not "because we have homeless vets" (which you also don't care about). b.) improving detection at the border with technology (which is what Israel and other counties do) but NOOO we just need a big expensive but weak wall c.) using diplomacy and international communications campaigns to pierce the cartels lies about "we will get you into America and they will take you and give you free shit" d.) hiring judges and clerks and bolstering the capacity to hear refugee cases so that they can be dealt with ON THE SPOT, no "come back in 2 years for a hearing" and e.) having a place to put them when there is a backlog and f.) fixing our visa program so that businesses who want them can actually hire them but then have to actually comply with all laws with criminal penalties for employers who don't and g.) back to c, making it clear to every country that there is a process and that they can't come here without folllowing the process.

^^ That’s a solid list, but I’d add limiting the number of people who can permitted entry as asylum seekers. With climate change, migration is going to keep increasing. It would also curb the cartel’s efforts to profit off the migrants.

Is this satire? Calling illegal aliens "illegals" is nothing like the n word and it's offensive to claim it is.

Would have been nice if these business leaders had sent their letter long ago, instead of waiting until the border crises made it to their own cities and states. Funny how no one cared until they were actually affected by it themselves.

Dems are stupid that way.

Republicans haven't done a damn thing to fix it either. Our entire political establishment is idiotic.

Immigration reform is an untouchable issue for both Democrats and Republicans.
If you look south of our border, you will find chaos and disruption that's unprecedented, meaning many millions of people are migrating to escape extreme violence and poverty. Venezuela in particular is a failed state where 3/4 of its population now live in dire poverty, even though the country has vast oil reserves. Where do these people go? Are you willing to allow them all to starve to death or be murdered by gangs and corrupt governments? They are so desperate that they send their children unaccompanied to try to get into the US and plea for asylum. If your only alternative is certain death from starvation or violence, then it's worth the risk to send your minor children on a long and dangerous journey which they very well may not survive. Have you ever faced this? Of course not. No one on this board has or will.

The Democrats and Republicans need to either send massive aid to these countries to help sort out the problems that are sending millions of their citizens to seek shelter and survival in other countries, including ours, or the Democrats and Republicans need to change the laws to allow many of these migrants to work legally in our country.

You do know that the US economy would collapse should the undocumented immigrants currently in our country up and leave today? Food costs, for one, would skyrocket. Do you want that? I didn't think so.

If you allow migrants to cross the border to work, legally, states will not be burdened with their care. They will earn money and pay for themselves. As of now, migrants claiming asylum do not have the right to work for six months. Who will pay for their care during that time?

Democrats and Republicans fear that making it legal for migrants to work will encourage more migrants to come knocking at the door of our border. I don't see a problem with that as long as we have jobs that Americans don't want to fill.

The use of the word "illegals" offends me as much as the use of the "n" word does.
Perhaps you're less sensitive.

What a stupid idea.
Limiting the number of people admitted as asylum seekers will only increase the smuggling effort and profits of the smugglers.
Legal immigration will end this. Migrants can fly into our country with visas permitting them to work. No more paying criminals to get them to or smuggle them over the border.

How about limiting the number of asylum seekers to those who truly need asylum?

Are you the same person who always brings up the cost of food? Your scare tactics wear thin. I spend time in plenty of countries that have low birthrates and aren't bursting with illegal aliens, and the food costs are not prohibitively expensive.

You can't let these people come here to work until you rid the country of birthright citizenship. If they are allowed to come as workers only, with no path to citizenship, and no right to citizenship for their children, then we can talk.

Exactly. Democrats don’t care about the laws. They’re apparently ABOVE the law.

How about e-verify and actual enforcement.? We cannot have children working in meat processing plants and companies going past the people we let in to hire those who are here illegally.

I keep seeing these righteous people proclaim “no person is illegal”. But I forgot who was quoted as saying “no person is illegal, but their immigration status may be”!!!!

At least 1/4 of illegals did not register or apply for asylum. They crossed illegally without and asylum claim and were never caught. Those are indeed “illegals” and. Or asylum seekers.

After witnessing the $hitshow at the border for the past three years, I can't believe anyone has the nerve to lecture us on calling illegal immigrants "illegals."
