Because all the articles stating her death say William was there, with Harry on the way. Don't be aloof. |
| She can finally rest. Most of her life was serving others. She can now Rest In Peace. |
Yea Edward VIII was very pro Nazis. It could have gone the other way with the UK. |
I think so as well and am not too surprised.... |
Someone brave enough to take the contrarian position that overthrowing a monarchy is a disaster. |
No she was 96. That is very old. |
She was probably sick of dealing with her kids' BS too. |
Not really. Moseley snd the British Union of Fascists never found widespread public support before the party was abolished in 1940. |
Yeah, but had Edward stayed king, they could have gotten that widespread public support. |
+1. Harry has a biography coming out. I wonder if they'll be any revisions. My guess is the gloves can come off. He and Meghan have seemed very deferential to the Queen. Now that she isn't around... |
| Has Charles ever said whether his regnal name will be Charles III or if he'll go with something else? |
PP. I guess it depends on the monarchy being overthrown and the people doing the overthrowing. The Russian monarchy was bad enough that Bolshevism looked better, to some people. Given the disastrous state of Russia in 1917, I can't blame people for wanting a change. Of course, we can see with hindsight how badly that turned out. The Brits have always kind of muddled on, taking a middling path. No one has been able to make a strong enough case (since Cromwell at least) that getting rid of the monarchy would lead to improvement. And, by the time the era of revolutions rolled around, the English monarchy had lost a lot of power compared to their Continental cousins. |
This! He does not care what Chuck thinks! |
He hasn't said, but news reports are calling him King Charles |
Because of COVID |
