I reread my post and he did not learn about slavery as a civil rights issue in the CIVIL WAR. They taught that it was a states right issue only. Based on what you posted that is entirely possible given that it specifically says they only talk about slavery in 1607-1754 in British Colonies. Sure, the second piece says it mentions Frederick Douglass, but I see plenty here that could be open to conservative interpretation. |
We already had this in LCPS to report racism. Why is it so terrible all of a sudden? Everyone was all for it when it was to report racist incidents in schools. What's the difference exactly? |
Do you have a link for that line to report racism? |
^ I think I found something about that Loudoun tipline. It seems it sparked the same kind of outrage.

Yes, and a Loudoun Co. judge ruled that it was fair to have a tip line reporting bias. So interesting that this was a-ok with our resident liberals, but of course, they're outraged that Youngkin decided to do something similar. A U.S. District Court judge in Alexandria on Wednesday dismissed a complaint that sought to suspend the Loudoun County School Board from operating a program the division adopted to combat systemic racism in the school division by collecting data on accounts of such incidents. https://www.loudountimes.com/news/federal-judge-dismisses-complaint-against-loudoun-county-public-schools/article_42dad09c-7a4e-11ec-958b-1bb7c64c54b8.html#:~:text=Ultimately%2C%20LCPS%20created%20the%20Bias%20Reporting%20System%20%E2%80%94,Student%20Equity%20Ambassadors%20Program%2C%20comprised%20of%20student%20advocates. |
There is no difference. Just sheer hypocrisy (as usual) on the part of liberals complaining about this. |
Everyone should report the governor. |
I think this about teaching about racism. If Mr White Supremacist doesn’t like what teacher says, he can report it. |
I guess you haven’t been to southern Virginia. |
+1 Why do teachers need to be policed more than politicians, the police, the money handlers behind the scenes? Because the GOP declared a war on teachers. It’s amazing to see how some find it acceptable to police teachers this way. You won’t like it when they decide your kids can’t learn what you want them to learn. |
And the GOP would like to return to this or something akin to it. It’s lucrative to have an enemy and to direct people’s ire against that enemy. It’s done effectively by the GOP and others against: Black people, Immigrants, The “Arabs,” Teachers. Other assorted brown people. However, billionaires and oligarchs are to be lauded. |
Yes. One of my kids is taught by Trumpers. They don’t believe masks work or that covid is real. |
And amazing how quickly they've purged Charlottesville from their minds, along with all of the Virginia white supremacists, neoconfederates and neonazis that showed up. ![]() |
John Birch Society government. |
Have any of you actually been to a school board meeting? Youngkin set up this hot line so the crazies could bypass the local school board and give him amunition to expand charter schools and "school choice". This isn't a solution to anyone's problems, it's a front for Youngkin to take money out of the public coffers and hand it to for-profit companies. |
