Let's talk about teachers with political agendas.

I have never, EVER heard of a teacher doing this - but certainly, any teacher braying about their own personal political beliefs should be reported - at the very least to the school administration. Do you have an actual (REAL LIFE) example of a teacher doing the above? We'll wait.

Yes.

One of my kids is taught by Trumpers. They don’t believe masks work or that covid is real.

DP. My DC's Govt teacher last year was an open Trump supporter and anti-masker, anti-mandates of any kind, and thought Covid was overblown. While the teacher was usually careful of what they said (they knew better than to push an overt agenda), their discussion of the Jan. 6 events, while purporting to be "balanced," was objectionable to me. There are no "two sides" when it comes to the events of Jan. 6 as far as I'm concerned.

I think it will be an important tool in keeping teachers personal bias out of education.

Why is that a bad thing?

Give me a break. Do you really believe that the lunatics who will call to complain about teachers will be reasonable people who support reasonable educational standards? If you answered phones for one day for any elected official you would realize how many delusional zealots and misinformed gullible and paranoid people are out there being spun up to call inn. People already complain about teachers all the time. This is a state supported effort to purge Virginia schools of any teacher who tells the truth about civil rights.

+1

Why do teachers need to be policed more than politicians, the police, the money handlers behind the scenes? Because the GOP declared a war on teachers. It’s amazing to see how some find it acceptable to police teachers this way. You won’t like it when they decide your kids can’t learn what you want them to learn.

Not all teachers, no, but some, and then there is the union. They do not have the kids best interest in mind. They are there to push a social agenda first and foremost, and they also do not hold teachers accountable when students are doing poorly. Incidences like these should be the exception , but unfortunately, it is not all that uncommon, and yes, the teachers are to blame.

And this:

BALTIMORE (WBFF) – A shocking discovery out of a Baltimore City high school, where Project Baltimore has found hundreds of students are failing. It’s a school where a student who passed three classes in four years, ranks near the top half of his class with a 0.13 grade point average. Tiffany France thought her son would receive his diploma this coming June. But after four years of high school, France just learned, her 17-year-old must start over. He’s been moved back to ninth grade.

No, because 1) I'm not a fascist and 2) I respect teachers in general, even this one. The only thing I would ever report would be if a teacher was outright cruel to or physically harming a student. And I wouldn't report it to a political "tip line." I would talk with the principal. My DC and I had some interesting discussions the year DC had the Trump-supporting teacher, which we might not have had otherwise.

How does this work?

A study in New York public schools showed that POC Children with teachers of the same race are less likely to be suspended than those with teachers of a different race.

That’s why staff diversity is vital.

His fascism and bigotry are certainly transparently visible to all.

Nope. Are you new here? You make a claim, you provide the links. But you can’t because you’re a liar.

Zero links about John Lewis and Ruby Bridges being "banned." But you know that. Keep up the good fight (aka narrative)!

NP but here is the complaint from the Williamson County, TN “Moms for Liberty” wanting to dump books about Martin Luther King, Ruby Bridges and segregation, calling them CRT.

DP. Note also that Williamson County TN is not some red neck rural area; it’s basically similar to how Montgomery County MD is to DC.

Now in the less ritzy suburbs of Nashville, they’re actually burning books rather than simply banning them. https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/pithinthewind/theyre-burning-books-in-tennessee/article_1f8c631e-850f-11ec-bc9f-dbd44d7e14d7.html

Some of this would be more appropriate for fifth or sixth grade than for second. I am of an age to remember some of the events, and it is not wrong to teach about them. But, I do think that some of this is a little strong for 7 year olds. It does encourage "all white people are bad" with some of the books. Seven year olds are not old enough to understand. That does not mean they cannot be taught about MLK--but teaching about Bull Connor at second grade is a little too much. It should be taught, but not at second grade.

Are you joking? No, they want to dump books about MLK and Ruby Bridges. They don’t want kids taught about American history. They certainly don’t want kids to know that their parents and grandparents were and are shockingly racist people.

I’m trying to wrap my head around all of this. So the Governor of Virginia wants people to tattle on teachers who are teaching “divisive topics”. This same Governor is in favor of school vouchers and charter schools as a way for parents to choose what’s best for their child’s education. So the Governor and his supporters wouldn’t balk at all if someone used tax dollars to send their child to a private school such as one of our local Islamic academies, or an LGBTQ+ charter school such as the Harvey Milk HS in New York? Or would those be seen as controversial and not the right kind of privates?

You’ve read these books and can tell us that every one of them “encourages all white people are bad”?
