To be fair, just the travel 5th grade boys D1 coach and the travel 7th grade boys D1 coach have been discussed. the other coaches might be fine.

I think it’s some of the the Board of Directors who are said to be racist. The 5th grade D1 boys coach isn’t a good coach, and the 7th grade D1 boys coach isn’t a coach and allows politics to get in the way of choosing the best team he can choose.

That’s what I got out of it.

Yes, important to clarify--no one said anything about the coaches being racist. Just normal bad-coach stuff.

That was just one example, but when you keep hearing different stories related to nepotism coming from the same sources over long periods of time, I tend to believe something is probably there.

Again, if you are happy with CYA, stay there.

Again, not seeing a lot of examples around nepotism etc. and seems like those examples would be easy to state. Sounds like there's one guy who was on board who also was a ref who had some personal conflict issues. Other than that there are number of coaches in FCYBL (not just at CYA) who holler at their teams and/or get flack for who they select (or leave off). Not sure why such venom directed at one org (CYA) without much in way of specifics. Have no direct experience with them but what I've seen at FCYBL games they're pretty much like all other travel/select coaches (some good, some ok but most positive..)

CYA has never been the best place for player development.

I'm mostly hoping the people who run the league don't panic over Covid.

Same. So much same. Everyone participating can be vaccinated so hopefully they just keep chugging along.

But I saw several FCYBL games got canceled before the break. What happened? Covid outbreak?

I think they reschedule the game if a team member is covid positive. That's reasonable. Shutting down the season, forcing the kids back into masks, or making parents wait outside would be a real bummer.

I really hope they don't force the kids to play in masks again.

God. Same. That would be completely unjustifiable now that everyone participating can be vaccinated *and the news that cloth masks are useless, anyway*.

I would think the CYA travel and the CYA AAU people would all be the same people. The kids on their winter teams are pretty much the same kids who played on their spring/summer AAU teams.

No the CYA coach/commissioner of boys AAU and his son are with McLean travel. Last year, they were with Great Falls travel and the spring in between were with CYA AAU. Looks like they are doing Spring AAU with CYA and taking their talents elsewhere during travel season.

Agree and I do not believe it.

Worse still: false allegations of racism detract from battling actual racism.

Some people will always swear there is no racism. That is just the code of white supremacy. I believe it. I’ve read enough to familiarize those experiences with the racism that is too common.
