Because these senators are asking him holier-than-thou questions about drinking when they are all likely guilty of the exact behavior they accuse him of.

Couple differences between a SCOTUS nominee and Senator.
Senators are elected for a 6 year period of time. SCOTUS is a lifetime appointment.

Seems like one’s lifetime conduct is more relevant to their government job than others.

Get real. You think someone's high school drinking habits should dictate whether they're on SCOTUS? Get a life.

The drinking goes to the allegations about his sexual assaults. It's relevant because the women who accused him said alcohol was involved in all of them.

Sexual assault is a crime. Drinking is not, but sexual assault while drinking is, even when you are in high school.

They can't substantiate the sexual assault claims in any way, so this is all they have left.

As girls, some of us were trying to lose our virginity, and what is funny, is very few were successful - with other high school students. The girls who did were seeing boys who were already in college. The high school boys were very immature. I graduated a virgin, it was my impression that actually very few in that scene were actually having sex, both boys and girls.

He's not being accused of having sex. He's accused of sexual assault/sexual aggression.

I’m saying if he wanted to have sex, there were girls who would have hooked up. we were that innocent and inexperienced, and it wasn’t happening. Beer was happening ....... but if sex and if assault was common, I never heard about that and I never heard about gang rapes in our circles.

rape isn't about sex. You know that, right.

Lol. But sure.

Ford was a great witness and credible, but she doesn’t have any compelling evidence to support her claim. After her testimony everyone thought Kavanaugh was toast. But then Kavanaugh came out with a compelling opening statement, backed up by a little shred of hard evidence (his diaries). But then, with nearly every question he asks, he answers with crazy anger and disrespect to the Senators, and also his answers about high school life are not compelling and he doesn’t come off as truthful.

Bottom line, Ford didn’t make her case but Kavanagh is coming off, at best, as lacking the temperament to be on the SC, and at worst, an angry boozehound rapist.

Oh for gosh sakes this has been gone over and over again - a sexual assault that long ago would not have evidence, even if a rape kit was done, it would probably have never been processes. This committee would not allow a proper investigation, or even witnesses to appear at this hearing.

Hatch keeps calling the claims uncorroborated and unsubstantiated, yet the JC will not allow an FBI investigation that would examine the claims and search for further evidence.

Kavanaugh refused repeatedly to ask for an FBI investigation as Ford did.

What is Kavanaugh afraid of?

That said, I think the GOP is doing better because they are more aggressive than the Democrats. Kav came out swinging which is his hail mary pass. It's not a bad strategy, especially against the wimpy Democrats who simply don't fight as hard and low and dirty as the GOP does.

Poor Christine Ford. All that pain, and he'll probably get confirmed after all. What a nightmare for her.

Kav: won't answer

He did answer. They don't decide. That is a truthful answer which is why Durbin and other libs keep bringing up the FBI.

Don't be obtuse. Any GOP Senator could say I won't vote for this candidate unless or until there is an FBI Investigation. Kavanaugh could say "I want to clear my name, take a few days and do the investgation"

Neither is happening.

Any Democrat senator could contact FBI and request investigation. None of them did it. Any of them could file a report with the local police on behalf of Dr. Ford that would required to be investigated. None of them did it.

Ford came off as a mental case. Kavanaugh is coming off as a man fighting for his life.

I wrote the summary and yeah I would edit to say that she was a great witness overall but yes came off as a bit mental.

If they don't drop him, they are screwing themselves in the midterms. He is a nutjob and the GOP wants him? He in hinged.

Lindsay Graham's outrage was pretty strategic. He's basically echoing what Trump and his base. He also did a good job by his outrage to change the tenor because the previous congressman pinned Kavanagh down to almost silence because he wouldn't answer questions about whether or not an FBI investigation is proper.
