Another if Mike Woitalla's long line of DA criticism. I don't know what he would write about if there wasn't the DA these days. Oh wait, he would probably be bemoaning the fact that US Soccer wasn't offering some top down solution!

Anyway, Gans' candidacy was a joke and it is just like so many other people who confuse their anecdotal experience for the experience of everyone else.

So his kids and some of his teammates were burned out. So was I at the end of my senior year of HS, and I had played both club and for a competitive HS program. Lots of kids reach that point and are burned out, no matter what league or competition or level they are playing. This is not a DA issue, its called being a kid.

As for his complaints about adopting the FIFA sub rules, that's just dumb and has nothing to do with "fun." If that's what was really bugging his kids, go and play rec ball.

I don't understand why a lot of people complains about sub rule of DA. I like it much more than "unlimited sub".

The complaint is that it limits playing time for players. The upside is you are playing FIFA standards, it real soccer where most starters need to endure 90+ minutes. Downside is that it hurts development for bottom 7-8 on the roster. The right answer is probably somewhere in between at least at the younger ages.

Maybe for U12 to U14, for older ages bottom 7-8 players won't get much minutes anyway.

forst of all u12s get unlimited subs.

For the older ages, 13/14 get 7 subs and older get 5.

Most of the 13/14s get good playing time over the course of the season.

At the older ages, the truly competitive non-DA teams all have players who are not getting as many minutes as the starters. The difference is that in the DA game players are learning proper pacing and how to go 90 minutes.

The drop off in talent on benchers 7-8 is rough

Not at the DA, the bench players tend to be the kids who are on the younger of the two ages, they get fewer starts as 16's, then they get more as 17's and 18's as younger kids move up and fill in.

So now that tryout season is over does the propaganda stop?
So how did the ecnl verse da clubs make out on Talent acquisition?
Anonymous
Some talent plays in one, some plays in the other, some in neither.

You're probably gonna still get propaganda because the rosters are generally not available and most parents know just one age, or perhaps two at one club.

Loudoun ECNL ready to rock next year?

I concur. I am guessing even on some of those teams that the parents don't know who for sure is in (more likely to know who is out) at this point yet. Until your TeamSnap is updated (or you have your first workouts) you won't know who has officially joined.

I have heard from a few parents/kids who went through the process that Loudoun did a great job at trying to pre-screen kids that they were interested in seeing. I would be surprised if they put a less than competitive product on the field next year.

I wonder if Loudoun was able to pick up any of the players who fell off the bottom of FCV GDA rosters?

i know there were FCV players trying out. Heard some even had offers from FCV GDA, but still came out more than couple times. So not sure what decision they have made. Seen girls from other top red level teams trying out. This was for one specific age group, so i can't speak for the other age groups.

They went as a backup plan but it is likely that the FCV girls simply take the EDP roster slots and keep training with the DA team.

I hope for their sake that there is a longer term plan than 1 year because that edp deal sounds alot like another false DP promise.
