I think there are a few reasons. It helps keep up clubs revenue streams relative to ecnl (one of several clubs early complaints) and it keeps late bloomers in the system a little longer. I think there is a u16 pilot program this year already, which may be a precursor to widespread adoption. |
+1 Good rant But please be happy with your myriad lacrosse options over there. |
Lol...MD like East Berlin... |
Can I get an amen? |
Easily the funniest post in this thread. |
They have a dearth of good public Universities compared to VA as well. Maybe you should just move... |
What is MUFC? yes, if you are deterred by traffic, you're not GDA material in MD |

Interesting article regarding DA

MUFC=Maryland United FC. |
It is interesting, and he's clearly a bright and thoughtful guy. I especially appreciate that he entered the USSF presidency election before the men failed to qualify for the World Cup. That being said, his description of what the boys' DA was like for his kids and their friends is not at all like the very positive experience we've had with our sons in DA. I'd add too that the Boston Bolts teams we've seen are among the most obnoxious we've encountered. Parents are loud mouths, kids are trash-talkers, and it's an ugly, physical style of play for the most part. I wonder if he'd have the same reservations about DA if he and his family had been at a better club? |
Manchester United Football Club... clearly |
Another if Mike Woitalla's long line of DA criticism. I don't know what he would write about if there wasn't the DA these days. Oh wait, he would probably be bemoaning the fact that US Soccer wasn't offering some top down solution! Anyway, Gans' candidacy was a joke and it is just like so many other people who confuse their anecdotal experience for the experience of everyone else. So his kids and some of his teammates were burned out. So was I at the end of my senior year of HS, and I had played both club and for a competitive HS program. Lots of kids reach that point and are burned out, no matter what league or competition or level they are playing. This is not a DA issue, its called being a kid. As for his complaints about adopting the FIFA sub rules, that's just dumb and has nothing to do with "fun." If that's what was really bugging his kids, go and play rec ball. |
I don't understand why a lot of people complains about sub rule of DA. I like it much more than "unlimited sub". |
The complaint is that it limits playing time for players. The upside is you are playing FIFA standards, it real soccer where most starters need to endure 90+ minutes. Downside is that it hurts development for bottom 7-8 on the roster. The right answer is probably somewhere in between at least at the younger ages. |
| Will Bethesda be losing some of their best Blue U-12 players to the DA? I had thought probably so, but with the grousing about the commute above ... |
