Right wing Bari Weiss given control of CBS with a mandate for 'balanced and fact-based' news

This all goes to show that when Democrats retake power, they need to enforce antitrust laws and break up media empires like Ellison's, Murdoch, and Sinclair and others, and re-impose media fairness doctrines. We also need to be encouraging more local journalism and other things.

She either misjudged the level of interest and is showing incompetence at best, or is outright complicit in burying bad press about the Trump administration. Either way it's a very bad look for her.

I don't think this article "justifies" it at all. Even if we all pretend to believe that the move is not political (and I believe that it is political), her motive isn't to protect journalistic standards but to create a more conflict-driven television. And she bungles the job so badly that she draws attention to what she is censoring and basically crates a conflict-driven workplace. She comes off looking bad either way.

Moreover, the NEW part of this show doesn't have to be the footage of CECOT, it is the testimonies for goodness sake. The interviews with the prisoners and the lawyer who studied all the cases.

Ironically, today at work I overheard two Jewish colleagues discuss this Bari Weiss issue at CBS. One looked to the other and point blank asked if “this CBS thing is good for us” because both of them looked absolutely mortified.
