The Fairness Doctrine was a great policy but it was eliminated by Ronald Reagan. Interesting that CBS resurrected it. I doubt that anyone now working in network news ever worked under it.

You do know the FCC does not have the same authority over cable that it does over broadcast?
Big difference.

But, CBS is challenging Colbert's comments.

He addressed this last night and pointed out- legal approves every single word he says, even his speaking out about what the network told him. So CBS is now doing CYA over statements that CBS approved!

60 Minutes just won a Polk award for the CECOT segment Weiss tried to spike.

I don’t want balanced and fact based news. I want news that reinforces my world view and opinions. Chiefly that in 2029, 65 million trump voters should be identified, arrested, and humanely (or not!) euthanized. Bari can be first in line.

Can you imagine the gall of this frump machine, thinking she’s not going to be mocked and ridiculed at public events for the rest of her days?

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, key author of Project 2025: “Congress passed the equal time provision for a very specific reason. They did not want the media leads in Hollywood and in New York to put their thumbs on the scale and pick their winners and losers in primaries and general elections. That’s the point.”
That includes Fox Entertainment News, right Brenda⁉️

Equal-Time rule, not Fairness Doctrine. CBS didn't "resurrect" it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equal-time_rule

Also, Colbert never showed his work to prove that CBS banned anything. He just seems to have misunderstood the letter the statement they made. Ask your local lawyer to confirm.

How is it fact based and balanced when Weiss is actively suppressing relevant and factual stories, just because they are inconvenient to conservatives?
