I don't think someone as wealthy as Larry "largest donor to Friends of IOF" Ellison bought CBS for profit, so the ratings drop means nothing to him. Like Rupert Murdoch w/ the NY Post, it's about being able to control propaganda and put it out there for consumption.

The Ellisions did not buy CBS for ratings and they don't care that this is happening. The NY Post has been in the red for years.

These are billionaires. They couldn't care less if these outlets aren't profitable because they won't feel it..They want to control the messaging as much as possible and spread their propaganda.

It's kinda like when the billionaires donate large sums of cash to politicians of both parties in an election cycle just to cover their bases so that they have successfully purchased undue political influence regardless of who wins a given election. It's disgusting!
