| Sounds like the new Region 1 guy was looking for someone to blame for Hispanic kids who skip school, fail tests, and commit crimes, and a white woman was an easy target in Michelle Reid World. As long as she’s never held accountable for her own many mistakes. |
| Anyone know anything about her interim replacement? |
A death threat is not someone saying they are going to beat you up after school. This is a law enforcement issue. But, you know that. Tell me: if your child had a death threat who would you go to first? |
“Because you don’t matter” seems like a good slogan for the way they run FCPS. You sound just like the morons who think that students are the property, not the customer, of public schools. You also seem willing to dismiss a student’s murder in the defense of the indefensible. |
I am not a Herndon parent. So, I am not speaking to the email sent home. If it implied a suicide, then that is unacceptable. However, I doubt there is any student in the school--or any parent--who is unaware of the shooting. However, the reporting on this is sketchy, but this is a police issue--not a school issue. Good grief, there are people who do not want any law enforcement involvement with immigrants--and, it appears that is part of the problem here. The dad should have gone directly to the police. |
I am also a white woman who attended American schools so my instincts would very different from an immigrant family who did not attend American schools and do not know the proper protocol. They rely on and trust the school and staff to help them. Unfortunately it sounds like it did not happen. Curious if the parent liaison reported the threats. |
You do know that immigrants who do not speak English well are not necessarily dumb? You sound just a little bit ... |
I agree. They are not dumb. They are trying navigate a system that is foreign to them. That is probably why they reached out to the parent liaison. Most likely this person speaks Spanish, and has helped before. This isn’t me being mean or racist. This is reality. |
He would also know that police have people who speak Spanish. You cannot call any public number without being offered a Spanish option. We know nothing about how this unfolded. All we know is what the dad told the reporter. |
It is the principal of Cedar Lane, which is a small, special education high school with less than 100 kiddos. She was an AP at Madison before that. |
They are typically looking within the same regions for replacements these days so in this case it’s a bunch of moves within Region 1. |
| Word on the street is that nobody knew about this ahead of time and she's being demoted by Gatehouse. |
You think the world revolves around your petulant, juvenile and sophomoric demands. You're no more important than any other FCPS parent, and as it pertains to the murder of the student you are NOT entitled to any information. |
I care about kids enough to not want them to be in dangerous situations. Seems like you are without morality. Your boundless defense of a corrupt system is so pathetic. |
DP here. It is also questionable morality to blame people who had no knowledge of this. We do not know if the principal was told about the threats. It is extremely sad. I'm sorry for the family. I'm sure the dad also feels guilt for not doing something substantive about the situation. |
