Who is the most moderate candidate running? Really would love to not see taxes sky rocket to help pay for things like failing Fort DuPont ice rinks and violence interruptors that don’t interrupt violence.

Those sound more like anti-woke virtue signals than things that drive up our taxes.

How about we have politicians that aren't in the pockets of developers, government contractors, etc.? That's where we can do better with our money.

This is the most important question in this election cycle.

The biggest challenge with DC politics as I see it is there's no credible opposition party. Sure, you've got the lefty progressive/DSA types and the good ol' boy old-school Dems, but they're both part of the same Democratic Party and all run in a closed primary, which is the de facto general election. Ranked-choice voting will help, but I'd love to see some sort of opposition party that wasn't a bunch of MAGA morons or weird libertarian types. Open primaries would probably help too.

Whoever he's told to tap.

Exactly!! He is Murial Bowser's pick because he gets in bed with the developers in this city. McDuffie will not bring anything new to DC. He is as corrupt as they come, and the Ward 5 Community knows this all too well. He was a significant disappointment to Ward 5, which is why he had to switch to the Independent Party and run for an At-Large seat. He is VERY pro-criminal. I am not so sure about JLG either. People in Ward 4 say she has done nothing that she promised she would. We are screwed.

I live in Ward 4 and have been happy with JLG. There is a vocal group that blames her for everything even though they are things the mayor is responsible for more directly.

It’s because the DC Republican Party doesn’t actually try to win elections…the people that run it are trying to get national party, federal or lobbying jobs.

They know MAGA can’t even get 5% of the vote in DC, but if they ran on a centrist platform to win (which would include standing up to Trump on certain issues), they would be exiled from the jobs they covet.

Best thing they could do would be to officially indicate they won’t run any candidates and then let an independent try to make a go.

Ugh, so is JLG. We are doomed if they are our only picks.

There’s opportunity for Kevin to legalize sex work and have a hero arc out of his arrest:

I guess he would fit right in with the Marion Barry vote.

Hard pass.

Yeah, I like Bowser but I definitely went on a date with a leftist a few years ago who complained about her being "in the pocket of big business."

It seems to me that Bowser generally lands on a business friendly position, or at least businesses that donate to her. Does that make me a leftist??
