Look at average salaries for different jobs, info which is readily available online. Pick one, get the necessary education from a decent university, part-time so you can keep your current income, and then use your university's placement office to advantage.

A degree in communications hardly seems like a direct path to a high income, so it's time to put that obvious miscalculation behind you and get a degree in a more remunerative field of study. Or, enter a field which provides training, like law enforcement or the military. Federal law enforcement can pay twice what you make now; local agencies can still pay over $100K with a little experience, and you'll qualify for benefits like early retirement and a pension.

If you want to go into project management, get the PMP certification. It sounds like you don't yet have a lot of experience in that area so the certification will get you more attention from hiring managers so you can get the experience you need to get closer to $200K.

Here is best advice I ever got to single women from blue collar or middle class backgrounds and a college degree with an average job.

Pick your horse and ride it.

Meaning you can't marry super rich or a blue blood family. You dont have the pedigree or fancy degree or big job.

But you can pick a horse to ride in the race and ride him to victory.

My old job in Big four girls from local colleges around 27-30 with parents who were like cops, firemen, consturction workers who was first gen college whould grab a guy who was manager on track for senior manager than hopefully Partner or someone they met at client who was on track. Usually a guy with there background but a go getter with better career prospects. Then you ride him to winners circle. If you were already rich you would pick the horse that already won the race.

How is it possible to not understand. You pick the guy at manager/sr. Manager level who you think will make Partner.

Example my own wife. We are both blue collar and neither parent went to college and both immigrants.

When we met she made exactly $100 a year more than me. She $55,100 and me $55,000. However, at 32 she was already sick of rat race and old boys club at work and wanted to get married and have kids.

We married and based on fact I was broke, family broke she still thought with a MBA and being tall, good looking, white male she could ride me to winners circle. With her support behind scenes in first ten years of marriage we had 3 kids and moved my salary from 55k to 400k

My SIL ride my more successful brother from 60k to 750k with her community college degree.

My wife’s friend ride a guy from zero to one million a year! She was a nurse married guy in “draw” on Wall Street and he made it to top.

That is why you have to pick carefully.

My wife’s friends had 100 percent success rate. Remember men who are Rich and good looking can marry rich and good looking.

Most of rest of use have to marry rich or good looking

And sadly some marry ugly and poor.

Poor and good looking men can easily with guidance from proper women can be rich.

My peak earnings was $990k. My wife is very focused on my career.

That’s exactly my point, I am a woman left the big 4 rat rate and bringing 300k+, surely less than your 400k but it’s not the end of the world.
