Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Bringing him into this discussion post seems like more deflection from the side that has many things to hide. Recruiting players is cheating. Own it. Just say that’s what happened and let’s be done with it. We already know it happened. We’re just waiting for the cheaters to admit it.

Aziz has been quiet because he's afraid he'd jeopardize his teaching position with FCPS if he ends up at odds with scum like Michelle Reid, who puts on a smiley face but has failed at her job and isn't nearly as nice as she pretends to be.

His name was mentioned based on his commentary in the “out of state” article, nothing more nothing lessen

Wait a minute 6 coaches can file a complaint and not be worried about their jobs but one man without a coaching job is worried about his regular position within the county.

She decided to protect a bunch of opportunistic low-lifes as they made a mockery of high school athletics in FCPS and injured a bunch of players. She is scum.

Let me fix it....."her actions and behavior are consistent with that of a scumbag." She is a direct reflection of the school board, enough said.

Interested to see what happens at the next hearing or if VHSL will attempt to cure by re-doing their steps.

The writing is on the Wall. Hayfield is in it and may win it.

I think Hayfield can be beat. I also think they should be allowed to play. My kids also do not go to Hayfield and I have no sons, so I'm not particularly invested in HS football. I do love the sport though.

Separately asked- so apart from whether Hayfield did anything and just from baseline position- do you believe there should be governing rules for high school football teams? Should there be rules to govern the conduct of coaches, administrators and players? And yes to those questions, do you believe decisions from those rules should be followed?

Yes, of course there should be rules for high school football teams to keep things fair and safe, but those rules need to be clear and not vague. And they should apply to everyone, not just some schools. Coaches, administrators, and players should have to adhere to the rules. If there’s a question about whether someone followed the rules, there needs to be solid proof, not just assumptions, opinions, or the appearance of rule-breaking. Comments in an article or from parents is not proof. Investigations should be had. Punishing someone without facts to back it up isn’t right and defeats the purpose of having rules in the first place.

VHSL based their ban on something. When asked about it in a courtroom, the lawyer, who I don't believe was a part of the decision-making process, couldn't say anything concrete. That doesn't mean that there aren't facts. It means that suing because you are banned is unsportsmanlike, lousy behavior, and VHSL wasn't prepared for it.

sure, Jan. Well, if this is the case then Hayfield will be out on Dec. 4th and you can be happy.

Not likely.

Yep, I agree with this assessment of Reid and certain SB members after reading the Defector article. I have more respect for Dunne after reading this.

Motion by Mateo Dunne, second by Ricardy J Anderson.
Final Resolution: Motion Fails

No: Marcia St John-Cunning, Robyn Lady, Rachna S Heizer, Karl V Frisch - Chair, Sandy B Anderson - Vice Chair, Kyle McDaniel, Seema Dixit, Melanie K Meren

Mentioning Aziz is relevant. He was a greatly respected coach who turned the Hayfield team
around and was blindsided by his dismissal. Basically he was tossed aside like trash. The fact that he is fearful of speaking out is chilling and no matter what “side” one is on in this mess, all should be alarmed by that.

Duly elected, school board, I would add. Consider that the next time you vote.

OMG - so disgusting.

The night before Hayfield got its injunction, the Fairfax County school board voted to extend Reid's contract as superintendent by four more years and give her a big raise, to over $424,000 a year, plus a $12,000 annual car allowance. The board cited what Reid has done for sports in the county schools while announcing the new deal.

Who are we fooling?

Hayfield proselytizes. (May the mighty Lord inflict flames of vengeance upon Hayfield nation!)

If that's the case lodge a complaint. Everyone says everyone else did it...so in so does it...THEN SAY SOMETHING who can do something about it. Overton messed with the wrong parents and here we are.

Yessir. Here we are. #Hayfieldby40 We be playing, we still winning, y'all keep crying.

You don't realize how badly your comment makes you look. Parents within your program have publicly admitted they violated rules and you are bragging about winning. As per usual, it is the Hayfield players who suffer because they clearly have no intelligent, moral, decent adult role models to look up to.

Not PP, but I still claim a major newspaper could break a pretty popular story if they started looking into this. Hayfield fessed up to the one track athlete. How many more one-offs are there? And how many more programs that everyone knows recruit actually do?

It is disappointing how WaPo has turned a blind eye to it all year.

The goal of superintendents is to maximise the number of state championship teams and also ticket sales. (Superintendents make up the VHSL board.) This is in addition to academic goals, arguably the primary purpose of a school system.

That I believe is the context, and thus the board is very pleased with her efforts regarding sports.
