Mclean 04s held tight this year. They are already defecting for next year.

Mclean 04 ECNL team as all but over.

The 04 age group has spoken DA wins out. All age groups below will follow suit.

She is quite good. My point was that that sort of girl is real talent that historically would have gone to the ECNL, but since the 04s didn't pull any real talent like that to the DA, the 04s aren't in the race. They didn't pull enough talent, and has been pointed out, Richmond United hung on to its talented 04s rather than those girls even contemplating the DA. It will be what comes after. Let's see how the 05s and 06s look (and yes, a very talented 07).

Ok Mom of the talented 07. . . . Pathetic.

I'm that poster. I am not her mother. Why is that every time someone compliments a player, people think it must be the player's parents. She is talented. I've seen her school 04s. Is she necessarily the next great soccer player? Who knows? She's 10. A lot of things can change, most specifically puberty. All players change after puberty, and some stars peak at 15. Others come into their own.

We can all reflect on the example of Freddy Adu. Not because of puberty mind you, but because of what happens when we think we can see a kid at 14 and know who they will become.

Well Freddy Adu had been lying about his age. Dude was several years older than his fake credentials. That’s a well-known fact. If you are playing several age groups below your biological age—of course you’ll look better than everyone else. If I put my 12-year old in with a bunch of 9-year olds— he’d dominate.

No offense, but do you have proof? I've heard that accusation before, but never seen anyone prove it.

Either way, doesn't change the main point I was making.

"Probably, though not definitely. His passport says he was born on June 2, 1989 in Tema, Ghana, but few believe this is entirely accurate.

Many West African-born football players' birth certificates are unreliable. This is due to 1) the fact that records in West African countries simply aren't as precise as those in the US and 2) there is sometimes deliberate deception to make promising soccer players seem younger than they are so they can secure bigger contracts. In Adu's case, it's probably the former, though the latter can't be ruled out.

Also somewhat sketchy is that Adu hasn't grown an inch or a pound since he was (supposedly) 13 years old. While some kids grow early, I don't know of many boys that were done growing at 13."

My sibling works in a school system where students are often older than their biological age (different nationalities than Adu).

No idea, but I grew up here and was big in the soccer scene years ago and it was a tale that was told often.

I didn’t mean older than their biological age..I meant older than the age they provide.

Would be a shame if the BethesdaSouth 07 girl quit. Her mom would have nothing to tweet about then.

I think she's just a parent who feels that it's important to be very involved in her kids' lives. Can't we all relate to that? There's really no need to disparage her in a public forum. They are a soccer-loving family.

Unbelievable jerks - directing comments at a young girl. Remember crossing their paths several times a few years back when they were still at Vienna. Girl was clearly talented and had a great attitude and mom was always friendly.

Absolutely. Mom's a great supporter for her kids but I've never heard her bad mouth or disparage anyone else's kid which is a lot more than I could say for a lot of other parents out there (and on here).

The girl is a legit talent. She's already been called up to two NTCs - as an 07 to train with the 04s. The best thing about her is she's a great kid and teammate - respectful, humble, hard-working, unselfish. The next best thing about her is she's not big for her age or particularly speedy. Her success is based on her unbelievable technical ability (hard-earned by spending 1000s of hours training on her own with the ball) and amazingly high soccer IQ for her age.

As American soccer fans, this is the type of player we should all be rooting for.

And no, I am not her parent or coach. Ask any parent of any kid of any team she's ever played on or trained with, and you are likely to hear the same type of comments.

Time to move on people....

East Brunswick, NJ (May 9, 2018) –As a result of interest from several girls U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs within the East Conference, eight Girls DA clubs in the US Youth Soccer East Region have gotten together to form the 16U US Youth Soccer National League Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference. This conference gives these clubs a chance to participate in a competition with parallel scheduling to the DA that will culminate with a playoff and a chance to participate in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.

The following U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs have committed to playing in this conference for 2018-19:
•Arlington Soccer Association
•Cedar Stars Academy – Monmouth
•FC Fury
•FC Virginia
•Oakwood Soccer Club
•PA Classics
•Washington Spirit Academy - Baltimore Armour
•Washington Spirit Academy - Virginia

The 16U US Youth Soccer National League Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference will be part of the US Youth Soccer National Leagues program, which is launching nationwide in the 2018-19 soccer season. Teams in this conference will now have the opportunity to advance within the National Championship Series through league play, as well as through their local State Cups.

The 16U Girls team that wins the 2018-19 league season will advance to a playoff against other top tier champions of fellow National League EDP Conferences. The winner of this playoff will advance to participate in the Eastern Regional Championships and have the opportunity to win their way to the prestigious US Youth Soccer National Championships. Participating teams will also have the chance to advance to the Eastern Regional Championships via their local State Cup events.

In addition to Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference play, as an added value to participation in the conferences of the US Youth Soccer National Leagues program, participating teams/clubs will be invited to compete in a series of US Youth Soccer Showcase events that are to be scheduled in 2018-19 and beyond.

"The timing was perfect for our gap-year athletes," Cedar Stars Academy - Monmouth Girls Director of Coaching Charlie Naimo said of the Development Academy division. "Through the US Youth Soccer National League EDP Conference, we will be able to provide our members exclusive competition with our partnering DA member clubs. On behalf of the DA leadership group that has come together to form this division, we are all very excited to shape this division into an incredibly competitive environment.”

“I am extremely excited and honored to have the Development Academy clubs participating within the US Youth Soccer National League Atlantic Development Player EDP Conference,” said Jen Marcella, EDP Executive Director. “This structure will provide the academy clubs the opportunity for their 16U age group to play in a very competitive environment.”

Oh boy! B teams travelling hundreds of miles to play other B teams. How fun!

They're not B team goof ball. Your reading comprehension is suspect. Its to accommodate kids in the GAP year. They will join their regular DA the following year when they become the older ones in the combined age group.

They still train as DA...just playing in EDP for the time being.

Don't bother arguing with ECNL propaganda guy, he/she love to bash. EDP is about to eat ECNL's lunch - first on boys side and eventually girls side as well.

Sort of, but not really. More like A- teams.

It's kind of strange the article doesn't mention this, but his is an attempt to solve the problem created by the DA's combining age groups at U16/U17. Some of the U16s will be good enough to play and get meaningful minutes on those combined age teams, but most will not. So this gives those players a way to stay in the DA training environment, still get meaningful game time, and then the next year when they are U17s they'll be more competitive for time on the regular DA team. So for the most part these will be the same as the previous year's U15 teams, minus the few players good enough to play up.

A better solution would just be to convince the USSDA to stop combining age groups ...
Anonymous
Lol anyone that’s actually seen teams from both leagues will tell you that EDP is more competitive. ECNL teams are soft.

So this will take the place of the NE Pre-academy league? http://www.nationalpremierleagues.com/northeast-pre-academy-league
