I think enforcement requires more people which requires more money and that means legislation.

Yes, and the republican Congress is doing little to nothing, except trying to legislative pronouns and support Russia.

The Republican Congress is waiting - as usual - for the Democrats to get on board with the border security proposals made by Republicans. Until Democrats show that they are as concerned about our national security as they are about Ukraine and Israel, they'll have to wait for funding. Shameful that Democrats are holding up this entire process by refusing to agree to border proposals.

Idiot alert.

The message is not getting through because Biden/Mayorkas are not following through on their threats.

Like the parents of a toddler who throws a fit when she doesn't get something she wants - they threaten consequences, but don't really mean it.

These are economic migrants - not true asylum seekers - and everyone knows this.
There is no reason these people should be allowed to stay.

Yes. There will be a lag between compression/policy change and actual numbers changing. People showing up at the border now have been in transit for weeks. They are going to keep trying until word spreads they aren’t letting everyone in. At that point, people will stop trying to make the journey.

The administration is tightening things up purely because they are afraid of losing in 2024. If they win again, I’m confident they will go right back to waving everyone in.

Other than right to life/abortion issue is anyone else approaching the next presidential election as a single issue voter ?

If other than right to life/abortion, what is that issue ?

As you say, I am also a single issue voter, my single issue is that women are not second class citizens. That is the only way I vote.

This message is actually off topic for this thread.
And, if you care so dearly for women, and them not being second class citizens - you should be outraged at the way women migrants are treated on their journey here. Children too. Democrats are complicit in the rape and trafficking of women as long as they advocate for essentially open borders.

With so many untested rape kits in this country, I do not think anyone in either party cares about rape.

And I reject that Dems want an open border. https://www.axios.com/2023/10/17/us-mexico-border-open-borders-myth

The president makes a good point. If this is a crisis, then act like it and pass legislation. Letting it wait for another months suggests, it isn't really a crisis.

They need to be deported. There should be buses waiting for them at the border, ready to bring them back to their home countries. That is the only thing that will get through to them.

You can't be serious - and neither can Biden. Republicans are ready to pass the funding for Ukraine and Israel - they are waiting on DEMOCRATS to agree to the proposed border legislation changes. But Democrats refuse to come to the table. So put the blame where it belongs - squarely on the shoulders of Biden and his Democrats, who could have secured Ukraine and Israel funding already had they simply cared as much about our OWN national security.

The easiest solution is to mandate e-verify

☀Rep. Andy Biggs' (R-Ari.) H.R.1901 and Sen. Mike Lee's (R-Utah) S.884 introduced bills to address asylum fraud.

☀Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Cal.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) have introduced mandatory E-Verify bills into the House (H.R.78) and Senate (S.71) respectively.

Where are democrats? Why do they refuse to mandate E-Verify ?

A 2016 study confirmed what many have known for years: The E-Verify system is remarkably effective at deterring illegal immigration.
