The only decent year at Metro thus far but could easily fall off. Mclean (Union), FCV, Arlington, Loudoun, VDA, VYS and Bethesda are all superior teams to Metro 08s. I am guessing these teams will even further themselves from Metro next season after players move. FYI, more players move going into U13 and U14 than any other year except maybe U18/U19.

If your DD is looking for further development and playing time if she is coming from a B team, it could be a good fit. Otherwise, I would probably be looking at any of the other clubs. You're bound to find a coach and teammates your DD will like between all of them.

Say what you want but everything I laid out are facts except a likely downfall next year and U13s and U14s moving around. All of the other club teams are better than Metro currently. Some will get better. Vienna will probably lose players as well.

Again, if the PP who asked has a lower level player, Metro could be a great fit. The coaching is positive and good for development of players that may not start for better teams in the area. I don’t have anything against Metro, they just aren’t as competitive as other teams in the area. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

For what it is worth, I thought you laid out a well thought out assessment. So if the person that claims you know nothing has something to add, we are interested in your POV.

"We are at Arlington in this age group and do not see it at all. Other teams have gotten better and we are just a kick ball team. Passes are rarely on the ground, just dump it down field and fight it out there. It’s been this way for two years now.

Not sure what Arlington team you are on, but Arlington does not play long ball. They build from the back. The 08 GA team has an excellent midfield. So the posters saying that Arlington does not use its midfield has not seen them play.

Regardless, most post should be taken at ace value. Lots of posters seem to have an agenda.

They are 4th out of 10. Arlington is 3rd. The teams seem to get better as the year goes by and the kids(and parents) I know seem to like the club.

No, Arlington is 4th out of 10, Metro is 5th.

Not as of current standings. PP is correct 3rd and 4th. But they play each other on Saturday at 1. Go watch if you want to have an honest assessment? See for yourself rather than relying on a board where everyone has some kind of agenda.

GA wins against less competition. We lose when we run into a team with a good or above average midfield. Many parents who only watch soccer because their kids play do not understand why the team loses. GA and local ECNL teams are weak when compared to the top of the ECNL. Look at Jeff Cup. What happen there against a really weak field? We played kick ball. Do you remember what the coach said after the tournament? Sometime about trying to get back to building out from the back? That did not work at ASIST because the other teams had better midfield. After that disaster they wanted wins. The coach looked at the team and said forget about midfield. It almost worked at Jeff Cup.

U14 gets real very fast. You can tell right away which teams are getting it and which aren't.

U13 there is a lot of parity because all teams are still adjusting to the full field, so it can be hard to separate a learning curve mistake from a deficiency.

Anyone with inside knowledge about McLean? Seems like they have taken a step or two backwards.
