Alexandria School Board Candidates

But, she said, ACPS wasn’t creative enough in reopening its in-person instruction to kindergarten-to-second graders and students with the greatest needs.

“I just think we needed to bring them back faster,” she said. “It needed it needed to be more creative in doing it, with out of more out-of-the-box thinking.”

She was on the school board while these decisions were being made. Hindsight is 20/20 but how vocal was she on this issue during the closure? Is there a particular SB meeting or two when she spoke out strongly about this?

The quote seems like something one of the new candidates would say. Not a quote from someone who was partially responsible for keeping those kids out of schools.

No, Greene only seemed to be concerned in the meetings I watched on whether sports were restarting. I don’t know how Greene contributes to the Board.

As an ACPS parent I watched almost every SB meeting this year (at least, tuned in during the school reopening discussion items). I honestly can't remember her saying a single thing. She seemed wholly disinterested in the topic and so for her to say after the fact that ACPS wasn't creative enough in getting the little kids back into the classroom? Wholly disingenuous.

Anybody going to name the candidate that got a DUI over the 4th of July weekend?

I watched most of the meetings before the shutdown and I never heard her express concern over the curriculum. Wholly disingenuous but these statements will go completely unchecked. Can't imagine anything like this will come up at the PTAC candidate forum. They won't allow it.

+1 I, too, tuned in for the school reopening discussions and don’t remember her speaking up or voicing concerns or saying much of anything. At least her colleagues in District A asked some questions.

It's so sad that is the standard for School Board members in Alexandria. Fondly remembering all the timidity of those SB members daring to ask questions of Hutchings. The shaking voices. The layering the questions with high praise for him. Ah the memories.

Can anyone tell me about the Education Assocation of Alexandria? I see they are a union and connected to the NEA but I've never heard of them before.

I was just looking at candidate social media pages. Tammy Ignacio posted that she was endorsed by their PAC but the website has very little information.

Is Westfall still running? I've seen a couple of signs but no update on her facebook page in weeks. And her website is inactive.

A DUI is not going to matter to the voters of Alexandria.

Just like Ignacio won't take any heat for campaigning with Moran who violently beat his girlfriend in front of witnesses. He barely got questioned on that. Who is going to care about a DUI? That's child's play in Alexandria!

Westfall's website is up. She has a full-time job and kids and did it herself. I'm her friend and she had some scary instances on social media from the public so she took a step back.

Who is the candidate with the DUI? And I think people should push back on Ignacio for campaigning with Moran.

Why not just work with ActBlue like Ignacio? I'm sure they will be happy to help her too.

People should but they won't. Chapman was campaigning with Moran's father who has a well documented history of violence against women and children. And that's just the physical stuff.

Unless the DUI is that Debbie woman, no one in Alexandria cares about a DUI.

Bridget is a federal employee. She is running a completely nonpartisan campaign. She’s a federal employee so she has to adhere to the Hatch Act. She did her website herself. No dontuons or help from ActBlue.
