Okay that may not be precisely true. Somehow the Queen Mother amassed a $40 million personal fortune. Obviously she was given some money upon her husband’s death, and her father was a minor wealthy lord so she split a small inheritance with her nine siblings (the heir getting the biggest cut). Who knows where the rest came from.
In 1994 the Queen Mother placed two-thirds of her money fortune - an estimated £19m - into a trust fund for her great grandchildren, a gamble, at the age of 94, that she would live for another seven years and so avoid paying 40%. That hurdle was cleared last year. https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2002/apr/03/queenmother.monarchy2 |
Eileen Atkins was born in 1934 when Philip was 13 years old. PP is full of it, he is NOT her father. |
Some of that fortune may have been in the form of jewelry. There’s at least one tiara that the Queen has that she inherited from her mother, there was likely lots more that was her personal property. |
- no one said he was her father - she was one of his girlfriends |
Yep the article mentions a painting that the QM bought for $4K during the wars and eventually sold for over $15M. |
The Royal family is a hot , trashy mess |
In the show she was seeing APB behind Charles’ back. She was playing him at the time just like she did for the Diana years. I agree with Margaret that Camilla in her twisted way was happy with her arrangement. |

Is it terrible that I sort-of feel that Princess Diana's narrative is the only one everyone appears to internalize regarding the Wales' marriage drama?
Do we know for a fact that Charles carried on an active affair with Camilla during the entirety of their marriage? What about Princess Diana's documented mental health issues? To me, it appears that more than the cheating, Princess Diana had major immaturity issues. Charles needed a partner and she was always crying and creating drama. |
She was 19. |
Did you mean William? The Spencer side had red hair in their genes and so I believe Charles is the father. |
Exactly. She was 19 and had no support or real love from Charles, her only lifeline in a dysfunctional, insular, generally unhappy and cynical family. I am fascinated by the royals, but it’s messed up that a family dynamic can revolve solely around one person at the expense at everyone around them. For what? To remain in power, preserve the family heritage in an outdated institution? They were all miserable despite having every privilege in the world. |
No way! You don't know much about genetics do you, pp? Do you not believe that one can look like the grandparents? Aunts or Uncles? |
How do you know they are happily married? I'm really curious about whether it has lived up to his expectations. |
NP - Although you aren't allowed to say so, it undoubtedly was a good thing. |
