Stars Lacrosse Club

No that’s not right. Even the people that “matter” complain about this.
It’s because they are hugely money hungry and refuse to hire the staff they need. No one works stars full time. Not a single full time employee. Compare that with other clubs. It’s a disgrace.

She saw that Stars was the better route, so "merged" the teams to get her daughter on Stars. Daughter aged out of Stars this summer, so no more need for that merger. Did she make Capital is the question?

Bingo

This is true. But she also has a 2027 daughter. She is the coach and the team is awesome. Lot of talk this summer of a Stars North Team liken Pride has done that would be based in Bethesda and be fed from BLC.

Anyone know what happened?

What clubs have a fulll time, 40 hour a week, 52 weeks a year employee??? That would be nuts.

Pride owner works full time on Pride. Stars should do whatever they can to brand that 2027 Bethesda team because all the good VA 2027s are headed elsewhere this fall. That will be the only 2027 Stars team by middle school.

It doesn't take full time hired staff to get out timely email communications - e.g. public posting roster or sending acceptance/non-acceptance emails to players trying out. The clubs that do this are class acts, clubs that don't, not so much..

Pride owner works full time on Pride bc that’s basically all she does, other than coach a HS team, and she very much runs it as a business. Most other club owners have other jobs and just run a club on the side. Maybe Pride model is better; only time will tell. But even over time most clubs rise and fall.

Long moved on from Stars as both of my daughters are older now but I never had this experience with 2 times thru. If anything, it was the opposite. On top of that, if you want immediate communication after a tryout, you should be at the top of the ranking board. That might require some extra practice time. Something that a parent and player can personally control, right?

I don’t think you get it. People do not want immediate communication after a tryout. They want to find out tryout results in less than two weeks. Or if their daughter tries out at an alternative time than the tryout, then Stars should give some feedback or an idea about when decisions will be made. People email basic questions that should be easy to address and never ever get a reply. More often than not emails go completely unanswered or it takes weeks to get a response. Times have changed since when your daughters played for Stars. As someone else said, this is a universal complaint, including among Stars families who are committed to the program.

Oh, you mean people feel entitled. Got it. But that comes with the sport.

Happens on the boys side too. Try communicating with the Hawks sometime and it's the exact same. Great teams and coaching but awful on the back end. It seems the sense of entitlement comes from the clubs and not the paying parents/customers.

I pretty sure I get it but you don't and if this were a universal complaint, wouldn't we have the same opinion. Maybe look in the mirror and see if there is something wrong? The people from Stars are at the field all the time. They can be reached by phone and they do return emails. If you are getting out of your car and moving toward them and they are running away, I might be able to see your point.

Posts like yours, PP, are EXACTLY why we no longer recommend Stars to anyone even though our girls all went through the program. Yuck. What a bad example of parenting you are.

We give out the names of a few clubs in the DMV and Baltimore whose names I am not saying here because I am tired of the slamming that is going on. We get asked a lot. When people ask us or our daughters directly then we tell them our opinions. We also have called coaches to put in a good word to help. The toxicity of the Stars and Capital clubs has always been bad but it is becoming more intense and disgusting as time goes by. There is just no need to go the Stars/Capital route when there are other programs in the area that are composed of better people, both in terms of parents and coaching staffs.

The bottom line is that all clubs have the same issues. We have a son and daughter and have been at several
Clubs. My brother’s daughter play on two Baltimore clubs. The complaints are the exact same. You can get lucky and find a great team with great parents and a fantastic coach for a specific year, just like schools. But lost clubs have the same issues. Just deal with it. And no I am not with Stars, but with another club that gets bashed on here for the same reasons.
