Shameless people.

Umm no, that's her mother. Holmes in the back next to the Asian chick.

Women give birth in jail all the time. It would only save her from an execution.

Why is that the case?

There is no law in the US that stops a woman from being arrested or jailed/sent to prison for having a baby or being pregnant. An extremely small number of jails are "nice" and have nurseries in them where the child may stay until they are 1 year old. Then they are sent to family members/foster care if/until the mother gets out. Pregnant women in jail give birth in shackles and usually are required to have an epidural so they can't try to get up and walk away in the hospital and are only allowed 24 hours with the child if their rights are not automatically being terminated for endangering/murdering other children then they are separated and the child is either sent to family members, foster care of adopted out.

Nevermind - read cap and thought you were talking about the one in white!

Right and she's wearing a black hat/cap with a black jacket and has red laces in her sneakers. What do you see?

I loved this too; a really great listen. (It was ABC rather than NPR though.)

Highly recommend The Dropout to anyone interested in the story. I thought it much better than the HBO doc .

Read Bad Blood instead. Greater depth.

She should be in jail. For a long time. She isn’t just a fraud, she put people’s lives at risk.

Do both! The book is brilliant, but the podcast gives you a richer understanding of several elements of the story. Plus it features her ridiculous voice, which you need to head to get just how nutty this woman is.

Listen to the Bad Blood Podcast! Walks you through the whole timeline and is much better put together (I think), than The Dropout (I listened to both), because John Carreyrou has truly been at the forefront of the Theranos story since its beginning.

Her sentencing occurs next week after she was found guilty earlier this year of three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy, carrying a sentence of up to twenty years in jail.

Her lawyer just filed a letter arguing that she should serve 18 months...in her house.

Her very, very nice house. I could live there for 18 months without leaving.

Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to sentence disgraced Theranos CE0 Elizabeth Holmes to 15 years in prison, arguing she deserves a lengthy prison term because her massive scheme duped investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars by falsely convincing them her company had developed a revolutionary blood testing device.

Calling the case “one of the most substantial white collar offenses Silicon Valley or any other District has seen,” prosecutors vehemently rejected defense attorneys' characterization that Holmes had been unfairly victimized, in part by media coverage.

Holmes is set to appear for sentencing on Nov. 18 in federal court in San Jose, California, nearly a year after she was convicted of three felony counts of wire fraud and one felony count of conspiracy to commit fraud. She faces up to 20 years in prison for each count.

F her lawyer. Send her to the same prison Ghislaine Maxwell is serving in. I'm sure they'd enjoy each other.

Her sentencing is Friday. She submitted almost 300 pages of character testimony, but the prosecution is asking for ~9 years.

The character letters are here https://www.theverge.com/2022/11/14/23455228/elizabeth-holmes-why-shouldnt-go-prison-theranos-court

Interesting article. Will the elite also bury all their associations with Sam Bankman Fried?

I can’t believe Cory Booker gave her a reference letter. Like WTH
