It has to be her husband's pull. Jane O'Brian is so good and a real respite from the gritting voive of Travelyan.
Born and raised in London too. I agree...she is frightful to listen to.
|
Her voice, not an accent is the problem!
You can see her mouth becoming very wide and screechy, especially when she is speaking too loudly. I think she needs more voice lessons so she learns how to get rid of that loud tinny speech. I hate to have to turn off BBC America but there is no other choice when she comes on. I am so relieved when Jane comes on! Please take her off! |
I doubt they will dump her. Her husband is head of ABC News.....well connected. So we are stuck having to wsit for Jane and switching the screetchy one off.
That gritting voice is just horrid!! Get her off the air and bring on Jane more.
I agree...it is her voice more than the accent. I am Brit and never heard this accent befire; however, her voice is so annoying we can't listen to her.
Her voice is truly hateful to the ears. Glad to know I am not alone with these thoughts.
So grateful Laura is not on air this evening. She has such a grating and awful twang, combined with a high-pitched nasal sound when she speaks. So relieved we have a reprieve this evening.
I can't understand her. The accent is so bad.
Christ you lot are a bunch of moaners. She is a good anchor and knows her stuff. I know a lot of people who speak a lot worse than Laura’s funny accent. I think dge is great. Cheers zNild
You must be her husband. Don't worry, your power will keep her on the air. Meanwhile, we all have to suffer the three evenings she is Anchor. Her voice is debilitating.
The only way we can suffer through Trevelyan's newscast is to imitate her and speculate on how she got and keeps this job.
Surprised at so many Comments. I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand the gritting voice and accent. I googled her and saw all those Amazon Reviews, then I saw the one I was looking for.
Is this site for real? If so, glad it is here. She sounds bad.
I hesitate to criticize her harshly, but agree with many of the comments about the irritating tone of her voice. While she may be qualified in many ways, the nature of her voice should alone disqualify her from presenting. No other presenters (i.e., Katty Kay) seem to have this affliction. I guess the only hope is that she takes after her husband and goes into management in the BBC.
