He has a shot if you appeal with a high WISC. |
Not PP, but seriously, I'm also curious as to which school it was. |
Ok, I guess we will give it a shot with the WISC. Should we also submit additional work samples - would that help at all? Looking for inputs of parents who have appealed successfully in the past. |
| Similar situation wth same GBRS & Cogat score. What would be considered a high wisc? |
We appealed - albeit several years later. We used a WISC (in high 130s) and added more recent work. DC was accepted. |
I've not had to appeal, but for both of my kids who made it in on parent referral and not test scores, I submitted several at home work samples for both kids. Take a picture of an art project and tell why the child made it; photograph a lego creation that isn't made from directions. Talk about language your child uses at home if it's above average from his/her peers. I put all that kind of stuff in my referral, and while some here will say that makes me a crazy over the top parent (and maybe it does), my view is that it is so hard for any reviewer to have a holistic picture of a child with just two or three test scores and whatever the school says.... While you wouldn't get in on appeal with only the parent info, including that with a WISC score wouldn't hurt, I don't think. |
According to this thread there's an 8 and some 9 GBRSs that got in- it's worth trying. |

Thanks for all the inputs. I guess we will try WISC as well as try and include more parent information and work samples and give it a shot.

I have never appealed but those were almost my exact scores, GBRS and all. I knew it wasn't strong so I submitted a WISC with the original packet. Got in on first round. Not sure what a strong WISC is but my son's was 140. Appeal PP. My son also had strong work samples (According to the AART). I don't know if they helped or not but if you're appealing hold nothing back. Add more work samples but make them strong and heck get recommendations. I never understand why people ask if they should appeal and if they should include this or that. I am of the opinion you exhaust all options afforded to you and your submit everything you are allowed to submit. What is the harm? If it doesn't work you are in no worse a position than you are right now, so why not? |

GBRS: 12 not eligible -

| where can my son take the WISC V any recommendation |
What were the cogat and nnat? |
In independent school. No cogat or NNAT. Thought the 134 + 12 wild do the trick. Thoughts? |
