Parent of a 3rd grader who was new to FCPS this year. No NNAT only COGAT scores - composite 130 with the highest section score being 139. I found out today that his GBRS was 9, which I think was probably contributed heavily to the decision of the committee to not place him in AAP. Should we appeal? Or will the GBRS weigh him down anyway?
He has a shot if you appeal with a high WISC.
Ok, I guess we will give it a shot with the WISC. Should we also submit additional work samples - would that help at all? Looking for inputs of parents who have appealed successfully in the past.
I have never appealed but those were almost my exact scores, GBRS and all. I knew it wasn't strong so I submitted a WISC with the original packet. Got in on first round. Not sure what a strong WISC is but my son's was 140. Appeal PP. My son also had strong work samples (According to the AART). I don't know if they helped or not but if you're appealing hold nothing back. Add more work samples but make them strong and heck get recommendations. I never understand why people ask if they should appeal and if they should include this or that. I am of the opinion you exhaust all options afforded to you and your submit everything you are allowed to submit. What is the harm? If it doesn't work you are in no worse a position than you are right now, so why not?
