If you are smart, target all the schools that already have capital players, as this gives a player an edge because the coach knows the club and understands the product. If your child is interested in Michigan, Denver, or William & Mary, for example, attend those prospect camps and utilize your existing connections with players who have already been recruited or are on the team. Find out when the players who just graduated are attending a camp this summer, as all recruited players go to prospect camps at the request of the coach before they report to school in the fall. There are schools if you look at the list that clearly like Capital players and their player product....

The answer, of course, is that there is a natural separation of talent on every team. Club reputations and relationships draw coaches, player performances determine where they go.

This is cold hard truth.

Bottom line is club brand matters and many of those kids were overrecruited, which is the only thing you can really want from your club, get your kid to their ceiling.

Every Capital player earned her commitment. Nothing is ever given in today’s insanely competitive recruiting and collegiate environment.

Players do their part. But club reputation matters. Leadership matters. Club directors who have the trust and respect of T25 coaches matter.

Anyone who thinks you can be on any team and if you’re good and the coaches will “find you” is misleading you. There are lots of examples of teams full of talent with no recruiting history where players underperform.

That insight is why the number of M&D/Hero’s/Capital players on a HS team does not necessarily translate to success. What does translate is the number of top players who play at a higher level than the rest.

YJ has 2 teams. DMV (A team) and VA (B team). Both announced their coaches on instagram. Looks like they are still standing.
