GFR Falling apart?

If NM and ML can start up a new club again quickly, while GFR is floundering, they may be able to attract some of the teams. They did when they split off from Herndon to DMV.

There are a few players on the 09 team who are good enough to play at a higher level and, if they are serious about pursuing opportunities to play in college, they would be better served by moving to an ECNL or GA1 team at a larger club for better showcasing. GFR won't be able to offer that (certainly not at the same level). No club can wave a magic wand and get a kid onto a college roster but it's better to have more "support" than less and there are clubs in the area with staff who do a good job of providing that.

Dear Great Falls Reston Soccer Club members,

Thank you for your support throughout the years with our Club. We are fortunate to have members who are engaged and care about the Club's impact on our community.

Our Board of Directors is currently addressing and attempting to resolve some internal concerns involving the Executive Director. At the present time, the Executive Director is still in his role, in a limited capacity, until there is a resolution. Our Board of Directors asks not to speculate or precipitate rumors. The Board of Directors will issue another statement in the near future.

In the meantime, our Club will still operate with its purpose in the forefront: providing a wholesome, well-organized youth sports organization to teach, build soccer skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship, confidence and contribute to the general health and social well-being of all its participants. The Club is actively preparing for Fall 2025 and is in a great state for its members.

This reads like a bunch of lawyers have gotten involved and the club is probably spending a fortune on this. The only victims will be the kids who lose their coaches or teams while these man children battle one another. 😢

Maybe the Board is reconsidering? If they realize they made the wrong call, and are willing to dial it back and course correct, I’ll give them a hell of a lot of credit.
