Wut. I can get on board with that salad, though. |
Tell me how to make this. |
Yes! (Michigander here) |
As do beets |
| Never thought I’d say this but high quality butter pecan ice cream is delicious. I must be getting old! |
| Kale is gross and I’m tired of pretending it’s not. I’m frankly not convinced all these greens are even good for us on a daily basis. I really doubt our ancestors were ever foraging for spinach, broccoli, kale, cabbage, brussel sprouts, and lettuce. One clue is they give most humans lots of gas and tummy irritation. |
I agree with you. And now, my ice cream story: as a child I liked only chocolate, and my mother liked only vanilla. I inferred that if I was just a bit more mature, I too, would like vanilla and maybe when I got older. My mother encouraged this thinking. By the time I was around 12, I eased into vanilla with cookies & cream, vanilla chip, etc. It was at that time I realized being mature meant just being at peace with whatever you like and enjoying a specific flavor doesn't make you superior to anyone else. |

Yes! I wasn’t even thinking about this, but I feel seen 😂 |
I used to think this but I’ll be damned if I didn’t discover the most amazing chocolate chip walnut cookie recently at a small premier grocer. The subtle nuttiness really mellows out the sweetness. And it adds a nice texture to a chewy cookie, too. Now I buy a half dozen every time I’m in there. Warming up to nuts must be a sign of old age. Or maybe nut quality & freshness has improved pretty dramatically in modern times? I assume when we were kids the nuts avail were pretty terrible and dry. |
A random recipe https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/old_fashioned_apple_pie/ note the presence of vanilla extract. |
It's crispy and tastes good. |
