| Tomatos taste like vomit and everyone is lying to themselves |
| Most European cuisine is bland and overrated. Exceptions for Italian and Greek. French food as the pinnacle of cooking is an historical anomaly. |
| In general, the fewer and more simple the ingredients, the more wonderful the food. What so many people would deem “peasant” food, properly and carefully prepared, especially near the source, is so eye opening and so luxurious in so many ways. |
| Once you wean yourself off of refined sugar, fruit tastes wonderfully sweet. So do other things you wouldn’t think, like nuts. |
| I hate NYTimes recipes. It ticks me off that if you just follow them they're trash. You HAVE to read the comments (to be fair, the commenters are great) to tweak them, sometimes so much they barely resemble the original recipe to make them good. It just feels sloppy to me to provide these loose skeleton "ideas of a recipe." |
| I cannot stand Old Bay ... also totally on board with the pineapple on pizza group. |
I hate that you have to pay for the crappy recipes. Most are reposted on a blog anyways. I’ve never paid for a NYT subscription and still get all the recipes. Reddit has all the popular recipes with commentary. |
Same. It’s unnecessary and unethical. Not to mention, unhealthy. American meat is gross and full of hormones and antibiotics. Now if I am in the French Alps, yah I'd order a beef dish every once in a blue moon. |
| Crispy bacon tastes good. |
You totally missed the spirit of the thread. Of course, that's vegans for you, complete buzz killers. You need some meat. |
| Polish food is amazing. Pickle soup, pierogi, stuffed cabbage - so comforting. |
That's unpopular? |
The current trend is for chewy bacon. |
| Southern cooking is overrated. |
When I was dating, I had a strong "no vegans" rule. It's because of people like you. |
