Missing college student in the Dominican Republic from Ashburn

I think this is wild "Officials at the resort said her friends did not report her disappearance around 4 p.m. Thursday, "

4pm?? They last saw her around 5:50am.

They waited until 4PM to notify authorities she was missing. Her friends waited that long???!!1

How about learning to have fun without being drunk?

This. And how about parents stop funding these drunken escapades.

I don’t understand why people are blaming this girl and her family? That’s what the comment above is doing. Kids do all sorts of dumb things. You should be able to do something irresponsible and not go missing or not be killed! There should be a swift response and police investigation. Our federal authorities should be in communication with local officials and pressing them for action. I would feel heartsick if this was my child. What a nightmare. The fear and recrimination would be terrible. I’m sure the family wasn’t keen on this idea.

The changing stories is suspicious. If he passed out for hours anything could have happened to her. I wonder if they have located others who arrived at the beach after sunrise? Has anyone corroborated even that part of his story?

They probably slept till 1pm or so after being out all night (last seen on security cameras at 5:50am)... then maybe thought she was with the dude in his room? Her phone was in her hotel room so probably took them a while to figure out she was really missing...

^ I'm guessing they were out looking all over the place before alerting authorties too.

He’s from a town of only 2,700 people. Wonder what his peers thought of him and if he has any history of violent behavior?

It’s possible that she could have been harmed by others while he was sleeping off his drinks, although it sounds like cameras captured arrivals and departures from the beach?

Perhaps they unwisely let their guide down because the men were from US?

I’m sure the local LE want to protect the tourism industry.

She likely drown! They were drinking until 3:30 am in the disco and all spent hours (likely still drinking) on the beach.

She might have drowned. He should not have left her in the water.
The Holloway murder is another scenario...she died somehow and someone or someones concealed her body.

It's taken 3 days for this to hit the media. She's a lovely, brilliant young woman - hope they find her.

Are they not US citizens then?

No, they are Indian citizens who moved here to send their kid to Thomas Jefferson.

Couldn't they have dual citizenship?

The article posted above says legal permanent resudent. I'm not really sure what the difference is between that and a dual citizen, but I assume there is a difference.

It means you aren't a US citizen. You have a long term authorization to live in the US, however.

He may not have actually killed her, but he isn't telling the whole story here and I think he's likely responsible for her death.

Just taken at face value, it sadly seems pretty straightforward that the group left those two to hang out together alone.
And that maybe they made out or had sex or whatever and then went into the water and they were super drunk and he got sick and passed out and then when he woke up she wasn’t there and he freaked.

He left beach at 955 am. It was daylight for hours. Who saw him? Why aren’t they publishing description. This really stinks.

Yes, I don’t think this is weird at all. Stayed up until 6 am. Slept until mid-afternoon. Suddenly realized they couldn’t find friend/she wasn’t answering her phone and reported it to police relatively promptly. I could easily see a scenario where she wasn’t reported until she didn’t come home that night.
