Compared to Trump, yes, I really thought she would win.

I didn’t think that she stood a chance, but there were so many DCUM posts leaning in to the BRAT mystique, the celebrity endorsements, and random posts on TikTok, that I started to doubt myself.

One of the interesting things for me is that I called the election for Trump months ago (in that I told people IRL to prepare for a Trump presidency, I am a Harris voter), but became less sure in my conviction as the election drew closer and I started reading the Politics forum more often to keep up. I should have trusted my gut. I also called Biden 2020 and Trump 2016 months ahead of time. I’ve been right for every election since Clinton. But I started to waver in my confidence after reading this forum a lot more.

Lesson learned, don’t let DCUM influence your thought.

I thought they were two terrible candidates and an embarrassment that they were the best our country could put forth for an election. People like his candor and they find him very funny. They loved that stunt of him in the McDonalds window. Hillary or Kamala wouldn't be caught dead talking to regular Americans. They prefer the fundraising circuit, celebrity talk shows and hobnobbing with the rich. People can smell an elitist. John Kerry had the same problem vs. W.

On a personal level, I was much less enthusiastic about Kamala than I was about Hillary. I am a moderate Democrat and figured if I am less enthused about Kamala, then Independents or moderate Republicans are probably less enthused about her too. If Hillary couldn't win, then I didn't expect Kamala to do so.

Kamala is seen as left of Biden and Hillary. Her pick of Tim Walz didn't help moderate her canidacy. She needed a strong, white, moderate male with name recognition. I think Mark Kelly would have been a much better pick. I had never heard of Tim Walz before she picked him. While he seems like a nice, next-door neighbor type of guy, he did not instill strength or confidence as the second in command.

I voted for them but not enthusiastically. As someone who has never voted for a Republican for President, I knew if I wasn't enthusiastic, I knew those to the right of me politically weren't going to be.

Actually, what she needed was another strong woman or a Blac man. To me, it was so hypocritical that they wanted the first woman in the White House but decided the only way to do it was to get a seemingly manly man by her side. White, gun-toting, hunting, football coach. Big strong man. It was so transparent and so stupid.
