Well then, I guess every Palestinian should scheme, plot and plan to kill Hamas and anyone tied to the Gaza government, doncha think? |
It shouldn't be so hard for you to say that you do not support Israel's attacks on the Irish and Indonesians serving in UNIFIL. Your post leaves the impression that you do support such attacks so that is what I will assume. |
Right now Palestinians are doing all they can to escape Israel's attempt to exterminate them. You know, the Israelis elected Netanyahu. There is no dispute about that. Should every single Israeli be held responsible for Netanyahu? |
There are no consequences for Israel going to war with any country because the US stops all consequences of war for the Israelis. The UNWRA were not involved with Oct 7 in any way. These are just more of your lies. |
Lift my finger? Just how long do you think it would take to go through that entire list? The list is full of incidents that don't come close to being massacres. Many don't even include violence. If you provide me a list of actual massacres that caused Jews to flee the region — that was the initial claim after all — I'll take a look at it. I am not going to waste time on a list that includes restrictions on clothing. If I gave you a list of Israeli massacres that included Israeli arrests of Arabs for posting on TikTok (which just happened this week), would you take it seriously? |
Have you been to Israel? Doesn’t sound like it. If you have gone to Israel you’d know that things like freedom of religion, freedom for women, the rights of LGBTQ+ people, and the rights of minorities are far more aligned with what we in western democracies hold dear than any of Israel’s neighbors. Is it perfect? No, Israel is not perfect. But it is far more democratic than any other country in the region and, yes, aligns with principles of many western democracies. It’s also pro US, unlike most of the region (and yes, that’s going back decades). Not sure what you’re referencing about 10/6 but don’t think you do either. |
Jeff, easily 85% of that list are massacres and pogroms and are all clearly labeled as such in a tight bulleted format. Not much reading required. Yes, there are riots and other oppressive events in that list. But most of it is labeled “massacre” or “killing” or “pogrom”. And the cumulative impact of these events was the ethnic cleansing of Jews from most of the MENA region. Places like Syria, Iran, Tunisia, Yemen, Iraq all had vibrant Jewish populations virtually cleansed to zero population as a result of these events. You don’t have to take my word for it - clearly - this is Middle East history and well documented by Middle East and Jewish scholars. This gets back to Maher’s point about the complete lack of understanding of Middle East history. You asked what massacres caused Jews to flee in the 1800/1900s pre WWII. I answered. |
No, you didn't answer. You provided an incomprehensible list that included lots of things that are not pogroms or massacres. If the list is so easy to filter, why didn't you provide the filtered version? Unlike you, presumable, I have actually studied Middle East history. I know that there were not a large number of massacres that caused Jews to flee the region. Just use common sense. If massacres in the 1800s caused Jews to flee, where would they go? Things were worse in Europe. Moreover, in 1948, most Arab countries had large and vibrant Jewish communities so they had obviously not fled in the 1800s. |
And will add, the list also refers to Palestine not limited to anti Jewish Pogroms. A lot of violence that resulted in Jews fleeing the region. Again, this isn’t secret stuff. It’s in history books and myriad scholarly research on the history of the region and Jews in that region. |
So, obviously you simply did a copy and paste from here: https://jewishwebsite.com/featured/list-of-arab-attacks-against-the-jewish-population/94710/ and didn't bothered to review it. You don't know anything about the attacks on that list or even if they are real. For instance I randomly selected: 1869: Massacre of Tunis, Ottoman Tunisia and tried to find out what happened. I can't find any information about it. So, since there should be a "myriad scholarly research" on this event, can you please explain to me what happened? What was the death toll. what provoked it, who conducted the massacre, etc.? How many Jews fled as a result and where did they go? |
First, please share with me the Arab countries with large, thriving Jewish populations that were not already in precipitous decline as a result of Arab Islamist aggression, violence, and oppression in the that started to spread in the 1800s. The only country that saw an uptick was Palestine. And that’s where many MENA Jews went. Post WWII. Yes, the decline of Jews in the MENA went down to near zero in many countries after 1948, but that trend started centuries earlier, and with speed in the 1800s and 1900s. I would question your knowledge of Middle East history if you’re not familiar with these historical events. Or would suggest you dig in a bit more deeply into the history of Jews in the region. Lastly, you asked for info. I provided a simple, clearly labeled list. You want a filter function. It’s hard to take your interest in this information seriously. Have a nice evening. |
You provided a copy and paste that you didn't even vet and you don't know anything about any of the events listed. How many Jews fled because they weren't allowed to where western clothes in Algeria? What was the name of that massacre? The night of the long cravats? As you know, many Jews arrived in Israel after its independence from Arab countries. What do you think those Jews were doing in those countries if they had all fed the region in the 1800s? There was a large Jewish population in Egypt, in Yemen, in Iraq, in Algeria, and Tunisia, and in several other Arab countries. They had mostly gotten along fine until the rise of Zionism. There is evidence that in many cases Israel was behind some of the violence that encouraged them to flee the Arab countries. Just Google the Lavon Affair, or the bombings in Iraq. |
How are they gonna do that? Most Palestinians live in the West Bank and do you really think that they can become armed in the first place and secondly, be able to cross into Israel armed in order to get to Gaza to kill Hamas? You’re foolish if you think that. Hamas is the Palestinian IDF at this point or at least their version of it |
DP here but The Jewish population went up in the MENA region in the 1800s and 1900s in exact sync with the pogroms and exodus out of Europe. Egypt for example hosted a large Ashkenazi Jewish ex Pat population. It wasn’t just Mizrahi Jews in places like Syria, Egypt, Lebanon etc. If the word Islamic is used, shouldn’t Christian be used as well to explain the far more serious persecution and anti Jewish conspiracy theories that originated from Christian Europe since before the Middle Ages? If Jews had any arch enemy throughout history, it’s definitely Europeans, especially the Romans and the Catholic Church not the Muslims. |
Now that you have outed PP for cutting and pasting a list from some website without any vetting and yet confidently asserting there exists reams of scholarly studies on the supposed atrocities, I full expect PP to slink away. Nice work Jeff! |
