Comments like this are so useless to any substantive discussion. Especially in reference to Kennedy st, where there is a police car parked two blocks away from the incident 24/7.

DP but what substantive discussion are you looking for? Pros/cons of daytime shootings? The police car that is parked on Kennedy is empty, and pointless. Might as well put up a poster with a cop's face on it. That'll fix it!

Well, this in the ward 4 election thread so I'm presuming this person is blaming CM George for a crime that happened right where police are stationed. Do you want her to sit in the MPD car herself?

After every shooting she issues a statement about how she's *met with the police!!* so yeah, if the car that's been empty for 18 months is still empty while shootings ramp up, that actually is on her. She has the access and authority to demand that MPD's gestures not be empty, but that might lead to an arrest, and then dog-forbid a detention for the poor little attempted murderers. Can't have that.

What a ridiculous framing you have of her positions. The car is also not empty. Good luck on the campaign trail

Factually inaccurate, and extremely weak. You say bringing up shootings is wrong unless you have a substantive discussion, then accuse the person who engages with you of being, what, a plant? Lisa Gore online? Give me a break. I voted for JLG, had her sign in my yard. She has lost my confidence and my vote. You trolling this thread to demand that people not talk about her policies or being snarky online when they do isn't winning it back.

I don't think you're a plant. I think you are really bad at actual arguments because all you can do is engage with childish rhetoric that is inaccurate to the truth. You might get your fringe people but most people can see past that. Theres a certain corner of X where you all are parked and its probably for the best that you have each other.

I read today that DC is closing the red line service downtown for two whole weeks. This is all JLG's fault and she should resign in disgrace!

So, what is JLG doing to stop crime?

What would you like her to do? What could she come out and say that would change your mind?

Please leave the joking to people who are actually funny. When amateurs repurpose a "thanks Obama" joke 14 years later it is just sad.

I hear she dons a cape and some spandex at sundown and patrols the alleys of Petworth and Brightwood.

Many pro-candidate posts made within seconds of each other strongly suggests this post by and for sock puppets. Amateur hour.

If this person worked in DC’s youth justice system, then she’s clearly part of the problem. That system is a failure, presumably bc of ppl like her who are out to get theirs.

You are lying through your teeth that the cop car isn't empty. And you haven't engaged on any point anyone has made except to deflect and strawman, so I will take your assessment of my argument for what it is worth. I'm not even on Xitter so you just keep swinging and missing, but hey: if you need to believe that the only people disillusioned by your candidate are alt-right or primary opponents, that tracks with the level of introspection you've displayed here today. Good luck convincing people they personally are the bogeyman from your imagination as a campaign tactic.

There was a car jacking on Monday near the Truist on Conn Ave. Now, that is Ward 3, but its close enough to Ward 4 that this must be all JLG's fault. JLG has to go!

NP and obviously JLG isn’t to blame for all crime in Ward 4. But residents are seeing an uptick in violent crime and one of the things they can do to try to make their communities safer is vote for a new council member. Because while it might not be JLG’s fault her policies aren’t making our neighborhoods safer.

JLG is an avowed Democratic Socialist, a member of the DSA, and says she supports disarming the police. People can vote however they want, but they should at least be aware of who they're voting for:

Please tell me more about Lisa Gore, who as recently as '22 was aligned with JLG, and what she has planned in terms of crime reduction.

Voting out JLG sends a message to everyone on the Council. Simple as that.
