That suggests that these are not WASP types with old money. So the parents of these Dalton kids were able to break into the upper echelons somehow, probably through sheer hard work, determination, and intelligence.

it's clear you don't know what you're talking about.

This subset of asian immigrants you're talking about who migrate to the northeast are WEALTHY AF.

This myth of the immigrant coming here with $6 is so outdated and archaic.

Dalton has never been a WASP/old money school. It's always attracted celebrity kids and had a very high Jewish population. In NYC, WASPs send their kids to the single sex schools then to boarding school.

spot on!

This is a rigorous all-girls private in Los Angeles.

Interestingly, no last names on the pics, presumably to keep people from googling last names to figure out who is a development admit. The school attracts a lot of Hollywood families.

I am so bored with all these Instagram college posts.

Blah, blah, blah.

I'm sure that's why -- still, Esme S jumped out at me, only because I think that might be Katey Sagal's daughter (I am a huge fan and always loved that name.)

Actually, my bad - it's Esme R, so not the same kid. Carry on.

If you want to see something shocking, look at Philip Exeter’s 2023 admissions.

I just looked and is their Instagram for real? My local mid tier FCPS high school is more impressive. I know one Exeter grad and she went to Stanford. I figured they all went to top 20 schools.

It is typically considered one of the top 10-15 private day schools in NYC. That is where the wealthy go (along with some on financial aide). These are the types of families that are dropping $100K for SAT tutoring and another $50-100K for a private college counselor. So yes, not shocking there are 8 Harvards. Many are likely legacies as well (same with the other Ivies from here).

I’m not sure exactly where the kids of Katie Holmes, Sarah Jessica Parker, Emily Blunt (if they’re back in NYC now), Drew Barrymore, Tina Fey etc go to school in NYC, but presumably top NYC privates. And I bet they’re far from the wealthiest parents of kids at those schools when you take into account NYC finance parents. Unlike DC privates that have a lot of civil servants making $180k/year.

+1000

NYC wealthy are in a different class than all but a few in DCUMland. Not just celebrities, but Hedgefund/all of big finance. This school is in the Upper East side----majority of those families likely live in $5-10M brownstones or the like. These are the families spending $100K+ on SAT test prep and private college counselors. If you've started on 3rd base in preschool, those kids are prepped for getting into T20 schools---many other kids would be too if they had those resources from birth

Phillips Andover is still rockin' it. Multiple Harvard admits. Not sure what happened at Exeter.
